For FF moms

We make 2 oz bottles for LO. Sometimes she wants "seconds" and we make another 2 oz. A lot of the time she just wants that 3rd oz and we end up throwing away the rest. We're trying to figure out how to eliminate the waste. We saw Dr Brown makes a pitcher to store formula in the fridge. Anyone use that to put smaller portions in bottles? Or have a better way to make smaller portions for seconds?

  • I use this and love it. It makes things easier and less waste for those times were DS just wants a small bit more. I mix a batch of it at night and use it through out the day. You could also just pour half a scoop if you wanted that extra ounce but it just makes it easier especially those MOTN feedings.

  • We make a bunch of formula and refrigerate it in bottles. Then we can just give the babies how much they want and save the other oz for a future feeding. It's very convenient.
  • I freaking LOVE my pitcher. DH will fill it for me before he leaves for work, and then I can pour bottles quickly or "top off" E when he wants just a little more.
  • I didn't think of using a pitcher. What a great idea!

Do you warm up the formula before giving it to you lo?
  • You can also just make one ounce bottles by using half a scoop of formula.  The water to formula ratio is important but unless your vision is reeeeallly bad, you'll be pretty good at being able to eyeball roughly half a scoop and the amount you'd be off isn't enough to screw badly with the ratio.

  • I use a regular pitcher to premake 24oz each day.  Then fill the bottles as needed.  The hot water from my sink is VERY hot so i fill a small bowl wth water and set the bottle in that for 5-10 mins while i change her diaper. that takes the chill out of the formula but wont make it too hot

  • I just make two, 2 oz bottles, feed him one, and if he needs more, I dump one more ounce in. Then I save the other ounce in the fridge for the same thing at the next feeding.

    That's pretty genius.

N is super inconsistent and will do two to four ounces. We're still battling some confusion on his part regarding days and nights...
