xp pumping at work

I'm working this summer two days a week and my summer job is hourly (not salary) - I assumed I would be taking breaks and not getting paid to pump at work, but if I was salaried, there would be no difference.

Anyone else hourly and pumping? How is it working for you?

Re: xp pumping at work

  • My pump times are just my breaks, I don't have to "punch out" or anything.  My lunchtime one is tricky though, I was worried I'd have to count pumping as lunch and not be able to have a real lunch, but my boss is cool.  She says as long as I bring some work in with me to look at, it's not lunch.

We're entitled to time for pumping, and I think to be paid for it too.

I'm a nurse and I am hourly. I work 12 hour shifts and am able to pump 2-3 times during my shift. That being said, I try to take a shorter lunch break and pump the 2nd half of my half hour, but I definitely don't punch out to pump.

  • I'm hourly. I pump 3x - once during my lunch, and 2 other times for ~15 minutes. I get paid for those breaks.
  • I have two paid breaks, and I get paid hourly.

But in my state, by law they have to allot me sufficient time, paid or unpaid to pump. They also have to allow me to feed my child in the office, provided someone brings her to me and takes her when I am done.

I just started on Wednesday, and it's going great for us. I pump three times while I am at work, 10/12/3, and feed DD at 7am before work, and at 5:30 after work. She hasn't had a problem switching back and forth which is good.

The most awkward thing was the first day I pumped, I had to do it in the bathroom, which is located in our companies warehouse (I work order desk at a flooring co.). I came out and one of the men was standing there staring at me like I was crazy. Apparently he didn't see me go in, and all he could hear was the bzzzz of my pump. He thought I was "flickin' the bean" at work. Sooo embarrassing.
