So relating to the atheist/agnostic threads, are there any Christians on the board?
I am...a very new Christian. I also believe people have a right to choose which belief system they adhere to (although I don't understand the non-Abrahamic religions as much), DH is an Athiest so I get that (although of course I wish DH and I shared the same beliefs), I don't think homosexuality is a sin at all...but yes, I am a Christian. I'm actually getting baptized in August, and I do pray with DD and will teach her about Christianity. I think that I'll be ok if she chooses to go another way as long as she's still making good choices...
Anyone else?

Like is anyone on Parenting a Christian who practices the faith and isn't afraid to admit it?
I'm a reformed Catholic. Reformed right into a born again Christian. Lol. The Catholic Church services I attended were too "dead" to be inspiring to me but the people at the Evengelical/non-denominational Church I go to now are a pretty happy bunch and I get a lot out of it.
Yeah I don't understand polytheism and IMO Scientology is a cult. Because I've been reading the Bible and studying the Old Testament, I do understand the history and very basic beliefs of Judaism and Islam.
I'm Southern Baptist, but I also don't believe gay marriage is a sin.
Oh, and my MIL is a minister and preaches every Sunday. She'd probably disown me if she knew my beliefs.

I really struggle with that too. I think that whole portion of the Bible has been misinterpreted because of fear and taken out of it's original context (I read a great article stating that in ancient times, homosexuality and orgies were often practiced along with paganism and that's why it gets condemned). In any case, Jesus says there is no commandment greater than to love your neighbour, and also let he who is without sin cast the first stone, so I really don't understand the homosexual bashing/fear that goes on with Christians. I'm very liberal where that's concerned. I would rather see two gay guys in a Christ-centered marriage than a gay guy married to a woman living a lie.
Have you looked into an Episcopalian church?
If not, and you happen to come from either a Catholic or Protestant backround, you might feel at home there.

Also? The parts of the bible that say being gay is wrong say I should've marry my rapist. I welcome someone to say that to my face.
Leviticus also says that men shouldn't sit on the same seat a mentruating woman just sat on. I haven't read it yet but I think that Christians dismiss most of Leviticus as 1) the ancient Jewish people's medical book and 2) since Jesus made us right with God, all of the finaky (sp?) rules about circumsicion and eating pork are not needed.
We will raise our kids Catholic.

This is my understanding too. Leviticus rules are irrelevant to modern Christians, or should be.

Christian here as well. I don't like "claiming" denominations (I feel like most people feel obligated to adopt the beliefs of a denomination without actually searching for the truth themselves), but I'm closest to agreement with the Baptist church.
I actually double majored in college, one of my majors being Bible/Theology. I also teach a Bible class at the private school I work at.

I'm an agnostic who was "raised" Baptist.
Raised is in quotation marks because my parents were not religious at all but I went to a Baptist daycare for daycare/school from the age of 2.5 until I was 12.
My experiences there put me off of organized religion for ever.

I am a Christian. I was raised in the Methodist church and I've recently returned to it after finding a church that I absolutely love--liberal leanings and traditional service/music, and the preacher is just fantastic. It's the kind of church I've been searching for my entire adult life, and it's made me feel very excited about my religion for the first time in years.
My spirituality is a very personal thing to me and I view it first and foremost as a personal relationship between me and God/Jesus. I don't think that my liberal social ideals are compromised in any way by those relationships. I think that one of the defining characteristics of a true Christian is to love everyone and treat everyone kindly. I do not take the Bible literally. I do enjoy reading the Bible, particularly the Gospel of John. I think that particular gospel has some of the most beautiful language of any book I've ever read. <---- random.

I am a dirty lurker but I will answer...
I am a Christian.
My beliefs are significantly impacted by my faith. I guess it is one reason I lurk more and don't post often because there is very open hostility towards those that call themselves Christians (but I really enjoy all the discussion that goes on here so I keep lurking). For the record, I believe homosexuals should be treated with the same love and respect that anyone else should be and I believe Jesus taught us this (heck, he welcomed a prostitute as a sister and she joined him and his disciples). I consider myself to be intelligent and well-educated and am very respectful of other's belief systems even if they greatly differ from mine.

I don't ever think I've seen a great deal of hostility, but some of us non-believers have openly stated our side of beliefs. And as the bolded states, I feel we are fairly respectful of others' beliefs even if they differ.
People might not think so by some of the comments I make on certain Christian-oriented Facebook pages but I do belong to a UCC church. It is the church I grew up in and they are accepting of everyone. I try to live my life as Jesus would and that does not include shunning homosexuals or anyone living a "worldly existence" vs a "Godly existence" as are big terms in the Baptist church my husband grew up in.
I also really love the idea of Heaven. I'm very spiritual. I love believing that one day I will see my mom and dad, my grandparents, my babies, and anyone else who leaves this earth before me again. I do not believe in grace by salvation as it makes zero sense to me that a non-believing teacher who died shielding her students would burn in the same place that the man who killed them would.
I'm not living for what happens after I die, I'm living for the life I have been given here and now. My concern is not ensuring that other people have eternal life but that they can live this life as comfortably as possible.

We are the Seekers and the Snitch is salvation or Heaven. Jesus is clearly a Beater, that swats away the Bludgers sent by Satan to knock us off of our brooms and away from our goal of the snitch/Heaven. The Holy Spirit is the other Beater and God is the Keeper with the Pitch, of course, representing Heaven. Angels are the Chasers flying around helping us score points in life.
I am sorry, I should have clarified. I have been on the knot/nest/bump since 2007 and the general feel is that Christians are uneducated and if they believe in the Bible than they are stupid. I was not talking specifically of the Parenting board (although just a few posts down someone did say something about those that believe God is "bothered" by trivial matters are of sub-par intelligence). I do generally really like all of you even if I don't agree with absolutely everything that is said.
