more allergies than normal?

Do any of you feel like your normal seasonal allergies are crazy out of control while your preggo?  I have normal seasonal allergies that normally by this time of the year are long gone by now that we are into summer.  But I am still sneezing like crazy with a very itchy throat.  I'm going crazy!  I will sneeze 8-10 times in a row to the point that I feel like I cant catch a breath.  It's horrible!  My doctor told me that Claritan and Zyrtec were safe while pregnant so I have been taking that for several weeks now but I see very little relief.  Is it just me or is anybody else experiencing major allergies?  I just don't remember this happening with my first pregnancy.

  • Not sure where you live but where I live (Indianapolis) they've been saying the allergy season is super bad and super long this year.  Also, pregnancy can cause your nasal passages to swell so there's that little gem too.  I've tried everything and nothing really seems to help me much.  Dr. told me take Sudafed but it tweaks me out so badly that I stopped taking it.

  • my allergies have been AWFUL! My friends who have been pregnant before, and my dr all say it's normal, but man is it annoying. I normally don't take any allergy medicine, and usually only have to wear my glasses for about a week, maybe two. I've only taken allergy medicine once (I try not to take anything, but I just couldn't breathe one night), but I've been wearing my glasses for about 2 months now! I sneeze all the time (poor baby).
  • I also tried the sudafed and it put me to sleep so fast, thank gawd DH was home to notice that I had pasted out on the couch and our 2 year old was running around.  I could only imagine what a 2 year old could do to my house with no supervision. Yikes.  And when I woke up I felt like I was hyped up on something crazy.  Being preggo really makes your body react to stuff so weird!

Sudafed has always tweaked me out and I definitely can't take it at night.  I get night terrors if I take it at night - I have super messed up dreams (that I can only imagine are 10 times worse when pregnant) and wake up screaming.

  • Mine were out of control in my first trimester, and I lived on Benadryl.  Now I am down to just sneezing a lot which I can deal with comparatively.  I live in upstate NY though and I think we've had really bad pollen this spring.
  • Mine are awful too. I've always been able to suffer through without taking medicine but not this year.. And my husband has had to start taking Claritin too. I think it's just really bad this year.
  • Mine have been horrible!! I can not stop sneezing and I have the worst itchy watery eyes. I know that they have said we are having a late allergy season this year and it is worse that the past couple of years so maybe that is it.
  • Mine have sucked too! Thankfully Claritin is safe!
  • Mine suck but I think it's bc I'm too chicken to take anything! I try not to complain bc I shouldn't be crazy and just take something but wahhh!
