Trouble TTC

Scheduling issues!

Hi everyone! I just came back of my first RE appt. DH and I liked the Dr. very much, we like the office and how everything is basically done in house.

Now a question that arose was how am I ever going to schedule all these appointments around my work schedule.

First big problem has come up, Dr does surgeries on Wednesday which is my scheduled day off. So going fwd with all these tests and appointments means major re-organization with my work schedule and my work is not super flexible.

So I was wondering, how do you ladies deal/dealt with this? Did you have to come clean at work regarding TTTC?

Re: Scheduling issues!

  • My work is really flexible, so I just took leave, worked from home, or made up missed time when I had appointments.  I did come clean since my boss kept making comments that he hoped everything was ok when I would take off for an appointment.  My boss has been pretty understanding about everything, with the exception of making a few jokes, which he didn't realize were hurtful.

I think it is better to just tell your boss if he isn't a huge jerk what is really going on.  I found mine to be very understanding.  When I had my miscarriage I told him I was going to be out for a week and he did not blink an eye.  I also try to schedule my ultrasound monitorings for right at 8 AM. I am usually literally in and out in five minutes so it does not really eat into my day. when they know you are not just flaking out they are usually more understanding IMO.

  • I don't really have a flexible work schedule either, I work 7a-7p so I can't have appointments before or after work. I have been lucky in the fact that most of the ultra sounds and appointments have been scheduled during my days off. I did tell my boss and the person who does our schedule about what was going on and they completely understand. In fact, I told the scheduler my IUI was on a day I was scheduled to work, so I asked if i needed to call in sick or find someone to work for me for part of the day. She said "I will take care of it, you don't have to call in sick and you can have the whole day off". You may be surprised. GL!

  • I really hope I can work something out. Since I am a veterinarian it's a trickier situation as not anyone can do my job. I do still have an insane amount of vacay time and personal time. I know coming clean would be best, but I don't know if I am ready plus my boss has a tendency of being a douche.

  • Does your RE do monitoring really early? My RE starts US at 7am and is really good about scheduling based on people's work schedules.
