Well the flu is going around here (DH has it...biggest baby ever!) and now R woke up with it early this morning. He woke up for a feeding at 3:30, as soon as he was done he puked it all up on me, then when DH and I were cleaning it up I noticed that he had previously puked in his crib. Once we were all clean, he came in to bed with us...and 30 minutes later puked all over our bed/pillows. After attempting to sleep on the coach together R figured it was play time, so I let him down... soon after I could hear him making hick-up sounds and luckily I caught that puke in a bowl! At 5:30am he really wanted to feed, I let him BF until he fell asleep, a hour later he woke up with puke in his crib again
Other then puking, you would never be able to tell that he's sick, R is just playing and super happy. Other then sips of water I am going to hold off on milk/food for a few hours, as I'm guessing his stomach is in "puke mode" and everything will come up with now.
I will watch for dehydration, but probably wont go to the DR unless he is still puking everything up tomorrow.
Anyone have advice for LO's with with Flu? I'm worried for next time he wants to feed or have a nap...he's already clawing at my boobs for milk.
...on the bright side, it's 8:00am and I have done two loads of laundry so far today!
Re: Sick baby :(
I'm so sorry to hear your LO is sick.
I have no advice but I sympathize with the puking, it's rough especially when LO doesn't know what's going on.
Ugh! I feel you on this one! With DD's gastro issues, she basically displays the stomach flu after eating a trigger food. Yesterday we reluctantly tried rice cereal, and ended up unable to keep anything down all day.
I am glad to hear R is behaving like normal at least. I would call your doctor just to let them know what is going on, but wouldn't be in a rush to get him seen unless he begins displaying signs of dehydration. Watch the soft spot on his head and tears... they seem to be the first signs. A dry mouth (not lips) and lack of a wet diaper for 8 hours are definite reasons to be seen. Though it is hard, don't nurse until he has gone at least 30 minutes without vomiting/dry heaving. I find it easier to just give pedialyte because I can measure exactly how much she is taking in. I do about 1.5tsps every 5 minutes if she is keeping it down.
Hugs. Sick babies are hard to see
This. When N had the stomach bug the dr said to feed her pedialyte for 24 hours to give her tummy a rest.
