Hi! Question this is my first pregnancy and I am 13 weeks and I was wondering when do women typically start showing? I feel like some days I look like I'm showing an other days I don't
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs. My rainbow arrived 10/15/14. TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
Every pregnancy/woman is different... some show early and some show late. With my first pregnancy I believe I was showing by 13-14 weeks.
~Caleb~ If i could have a lifetime wish,
a dream that would come true,
I'd pray to God with all my heart,
for yesterday and you. D&E 8/24/2012 EDD 1/28/2013

I'm a FTM too and at 14 weeks. My waist has thickened a lot and Ive only gained 3 lbs. Im the same! Some days I think I'm showing and other days no, and co workers keep eyeing my stomach lol
I'm sure there are. Just wanted a quick answer didn't have time to go through all of the posts. Thanks
This sounds like my boss. "I know you sent me that document when I asked you to, and I'm the one who didn't take the action I said I would, but now I don't feel like looking through my documents folder, so send it again."
I don't understand why we should all have time to answer this question a million times, but it's ok for the OP to not have time to look at old posts.

For the OP, I have been definitely showing for a couple weeks and I'm coming up on 15. Everyone is certainly different and you hear stories about people who don't show until realllly late and people who pop a little early. If you're concerned because you think you may be gaining too much weight, that's certainly something to bring up with your OB, but if it's just a bump sticking out, congrats on getting to be cute super early! haha
Yeah, I can't get the search feature to work very well either and if you've answered a similar post a thousand times, then just don't answer this one if you don't want to. I'm on a ton of forums for work related things and this comes up regularly... I just don't see the point in the eye rolls. I'm for cutting ladies slack for being preoccupied with pregnancy symptoms, complications, registry, and life changes.
I'm sick of googling best gear stuff, so I turn to the board knowing that people have answered the question before. I'm tired.
I'm sure there are. Just wanted a quick answer didn't have time to go through all of the posts. Thanks
We have a search feature on the board...you type in what you are looking for and BAM a whole list of posts IDENTICAL to yours comes up...
The search feature hasn't worked for years. Unless they fixed it, but that is highly unlikely.
This! The search functionality on The Knot, The Nest, and The Bump has always been useless! Let's also keep in mind the number of threads that are started each and every day... scrolling is not exactly an easy option either...
If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all...
Aw, I feel you OP. I'm 13 weeks as well and can't wait for a 'bump' of some sort. My chest on the other hand, I don't even recognize... I'm sure we'll see something soon!

It always makes me laugh when someone takes the time to tell a person there are tons of posts about the same topic. It would have taken so much more effort to just be decent person and answer the question for her. Sorry OP, with my first child I didn't start showing a little bit until around 20ish weeks.

It's annoying because it's like saying our time isn't as valuable as theirs. Yeah, I don't have time to browse the board and learn anything about the people here or see if a question has been asked, but you should have time to answer my questions on demand. Google is for answers on demand.

I didn't see in her post that she was demanding anyone to answer her question. I know as a STM google isn't always the best place to go to..she was looking for advice from people in the same situation. If its annoying scroll on past the question.
I would say I just started showing this week. When I wake up the bump is still there whereas in the past weeks it would go away over night and reappear when I ate or drank anything. I'm kind of short at 5' 3.5" and am about 20lbs over where I would want to be, but still very average weight ( I used to be very skinny but have gained weight due to a back injury). I have read that height can impact when you show too. Sometimes taller women show later because they have more room for the baby to grow while shorter women sometimes have less room. I think everyone is diff though. I have friends who didn't show until 20 weeks or so with their first and others who showed at 13 weeks with their first.

Op w my first I did not really show until about 22 weeks. I have a very long torso and am very tall.
W my second, 8 yrs later, I showed sooner, about the end of the first tri.
Now w this baby, 1 year later, I started showing SO early... Before end of first tri. It was like my ute was just like "oh no not again so soon" and just exploded like an old stretched out sock.

Typically, posting a question in a forum will get you an answer pretty quickly. Your argument is null and void. I'm not one to start anything, and I definitely won't be going back and forth on a forum.. Just hormonal today I guess

I wouldn't say my argument is null and void. Our time is just as important as hers, sorry.

There is NO WAY that posting a question on a forum will get you a quicker answer than google. So when OP says she wanted a "quick answer", people were stating that google is MUCH quicker than going to TB, logging in, going to your birth month board, starting a new topic and waiting for an answer.

I don't think anyone advocates using google to diagnose pains they are having or legitimate concerns, but I'm pretty sure searching "when do you start showing during pregnancy" can get you a quick general answer. This is along the lines of..."is X safe to eat during pregnancy" or "can I take Tylenol". A few of my favs lol

I have been showing for the last 3/4 weeks. I am nearly 15 weeks. I'm sure most of it is bloat/the carbs I've been eating but check with your midwife if you're concerned. I know people who didn't show until 21/22 weeks so I feel pretty fat right now haha! But hey! It's all for a good cause. And I do try and lay off the carbs where poss x

Agreed. The girl just asked a question.
I just started really showing about a week ago. Just changed my belly ring to a maternity ring!

Agreed. I'm sure just about any post on this board could be "googled" rather than someone bothering to write on here about it. But we post to interact with other women in the same situation as us. For a bit if reassurance rather than reading something written by a random two yrs ago, or by a 19 yr old intern doing some work experience on a baby website who didn't do any real research when told to write 300 words on 'when you start showing'

Yes, because her interest in all the other posts, post count, and response in this thread clearly indicates that she's interested in interacting with other pregnant women. Especially since she said she doesn't have time to read other posts...

Never heard of them. Like the OP first time mother If I want answers on something serious I ask my dr. If I want a fairly quick reply on something that's not serious and I'm just curious about it I'll post it on the forum. I'd like to get a real reply from a real human. That's kind of the point of forums. If you live on the board and have seen the same questions time and again, just don't answer, there are plenty of people happy to comment. It's not all about getting an answer, it's having a discussion and hearing from others in the same boat as you.
I posted last nigh about suggestions in Hawaii for baby shopping. Could I google that? Sure. Did I? Yeah. But I'd rather hear from someone who lives there with a current comment than read old reviews or the stores own marketing.

... You have never heard of the Mayo Clinic or the American Pregnancy Association???? WOW. I'm not going to touch that because, well, it won't be pretty.
And, honestly, the OP for this thread didn't want a discussion. She just wanted answers. So, please don't assume that all posters want an actual discussion. Many people post once to get answers and never post again. That's the other truth of the matter.
Second, don't tell people how they should act; as you said the point of forums are discussion, and people will discuss whatever they want - they don't have to agree with an OP to respond.
Third, people do stop responding when a question is asked too often. People do get tired of seeing the same questions over and over again and regurgitating the same information. In many cases you are going to get more information if you actually look around a bit and read older posts.

How many times do we have to answer the same exact question before we remind people to be grown ups and try to find the answers on their own??
No one is "making you" answer questions! This is literally a message board about pregnancy...What is the big deal
In case this is helpful for anyone trying to search the boards, there's a fast way to dig into past responses using a single site search. The syntax is "site:<web site name> + space + <search term>. Add quotes around the search term if you want to find the wording exactly as typed.
For instance, the OP could've gone to Google and typed this:
site:thebump.com "when will I show"
And Google pulls up all the posts that reference "when will I show" from just TB.
So many useful applications for this. Just imagine the possibilities.

There are TONS of threads about this. Please look around the board a bit.
