Anyone watch this DVD or read the book? Any BTDT moms have success with it. My husband and I just watched the DVD and it was crazy seeing how well it worked on these babies. The techniques seem so easy that it seems like every baby should be happy all the time haha.

I watched the DVD. It is nice to see what he wants you to do. But I think if you can't get it you'd be fine with looking up the 5 Ss online; I've seen some good explanations. It worked pretty well for us.

I'm a FTM, but DH & I took a newborn care class and they showed us this video. At the time, we kind of rolled our eyes at it because it seemed a little ridiculous, but since then we've had 3 or 4 couples we are friends with say it's a life saver. So we're going to try it when LO is here!

I've heard this to be highly recommended, but never seen the material.

One thing I DO recommend is looking up Dunstan Baby Language.

It really helps to figure out what baby wants when he/she cries.

This is so funny! I was just at Barnes and noble, looking at this book as well as babywise. I have heard recommendations for both, but couldn't decide on one over the other. Anyone read babywise?

We have the book. They worked well with DD1.

ETA: I also use the techniques while photographing newborns.

We are taking the hbotb class tomorrow. They offer it at the hospital for 40 a couple. Not bad since we dont jave time to read.

I haven't read Babywise, but from what I heard, I do not want to. From what I have heard, it seems harsh and has a big emphasis at getting LO to STTN at a super young age. Something I was not comfortable doing with DD when she was that young.

Amazing book! We used it with my 4 year old, my 2 year old and now in the hospital with my 2 day old twins. We call it our baby bible and it's always part of our gifts at showers.
A helpful hint is to get a "womb" noise maker to help with the shhhh aspect of 5 s's. Lionhearted makes a little teddy bear one where the noise maker can be removed. Then we tossed the bear, I didn't want a stuffed animal in crib or the noise muffled at all. Then I put that noise box right in crib. It became our snooze button for the baby! She'd start to fuss and we'd turn it one for an extra half hour to hour of sleep!

I bought the book first and then watched the dvd. In my opinion, just watch the dvd. They have the same information, but the video obviously takes less time to get through and the visual help on some of techniques was nice. I'm a FTM, but I would still say I'd recommend.

I'm almost done with the book and it's awesome! I've seen a small video online and I'm looking forward to using it.

To help DH, I marked pages and highlighted the important parts so he can just flip thru the book when he wants.

I have the book and have found the tone to be a little condescending and repetitive, but it might just be me. I do think the information is useful and have high hopes for it working, but maybe the DVD would be a little more enjoyable.

It really works! The DVD is way better than the book, so save yourself the reading and just watch the short video.

I've read the Babywise book, but not the Happiest Baby on the Block (our friends are going to let us borrow the dvd). My sister has used the Babywise method for 3 of her 4 children (4th is currently 2-3 months old) and the other two whom she's used in on it seemed to work fine.

I've been trying (well...half trying) the babywise method, but I think I may have started too late so it's just difficult to adjust her already established routine with a new one.

I've heard GREAT reviews for both methods though. Once I see the HBotB dvd we'll probably decide which one to use or try to incorporate both styles if we can.

I liked the DVD more than the book. The methods didn't work well for us, but I can see where they would with the right baby and know a lot of people who recommend it. I feel like it's more of a technique for dealing with fussiness and crying than an overall philosophy.
