Some of you may have read my rambling announcement the day after he was born but here it is officially! Sorry it's so long! At least there are pics at the end!
Short version: Javier was born on June 21st at 738am, 9lbs 5oz, 21 and 3/4 inches long. Had a successful natural med free birth. 2nd degree tear and baby was born sunny side up!
Longer version: Thursday evening my DH and I were at my good friends rehearsal dinner, I had been feeling strange cramps all day but not timeable and since I'm a ftm I wasn't even sure they were contractions. While at the dinner, around 7pm, they became more noticeable, I told DH and he got all nervous and excited and told me to time them... After that ge couldbt finish his dinner! They were timeable and around 8mins apart. I was in denial and kept telling him it was probly false labor... I was supposed to be in the wedding!! Then whiile at the dinner i went to the restroom and saw that my bloody show had begun, thank god there was a pad in my purse!! We stayed another hour or so then headed home. It was the 20th which was my dads birthday so we stopped on the way home to get him a cake and celebrate over desert that night. I was still in denial about it being real labor even this the contractions were getting closer together and a bit more intense. After we had cake I went to lay down and DH rubbed my back but after a while that became vet uncomfortable. By this point it was around 11pm and I had to stop and breath thru the contractions. I took a shower, shaved my legs and enjoyed the hot water on my back because by this point the contractions were also being felt in my back. After the shower I wanted to take a walk, DH and I walked a few blocks, having to stop every 3 or 4 mins to get thru a contraction. After we got back from the walk my contractions were super painful and DH called the hospital, they told me I could come in or time them for another hr then call back... We chose to try and stick it out another hr even tho they were about 3.5 mins apart, we lasted 45 mins then said screw it lets go! DH called and told them we were otw! When we were walking out the door I had a bad contraction that brought me down to all fours, needless to say the car ride there was not fun since I couldn't move and the back labor was bad! We got there at 2am, I was checked and was only at a 2!!! Luckily the amazing nurse I had could tell I was in active labor and told me that they couldn't admit me till I was a 4 but in the mean time I could labor there, got us a room and all. She first got us bent over swaying side to side since I had back labor she told me that meant baby was sunny side up and she wanted to try to turn him. After that she hit me on a birthing ball in the hot shower which felt nice considering all the pain I was in! At 4 am she told me she could check me again or I could just continue doing what I was doing. We chose to not get checked, just incase I wasn't a 4 yet I didn't want to be sent home. The rest of my labor I sat in a chair by the bed and when a contraction came I stood up and bent over the bed, supporting myself on my elbows while DH put pressure on my back. Around 530am my nurse said she wanted to check me, I was a 4 to 5. They admitted me and I continued to labor on. Around 7 or 715 I felt the need to push a bit, they checked me and I was a 9. I got up on the bed with a squat bar and by 730 I was complete. I pushed 2 or 3 times in the squat position but my body was so tired, I had the shakes and was in so much pain I didn't want to hold myself up anymore. I got on my back with the next contraction and screamed and yelled about not wanting to do this anymore! It was so painful! I couldn't fight the urge to push but I also had to energy... I just wanted to sleep! I was fighting it and was very vocal about not being able to Do this!! The midwife calmed me down and DH told me how proud he was thru tears and the midwife told me I could have this baby on the next push or if I kept fighting it it could take 5 or 6 contractions. They brought over the mirror and since I couldn't imagine doing this any longer I pushed the heck out of that next contraction and screamed my head off and yelled "mother fricker" and out popped his head with his little hand squished up next to it! One more hard push and grunt and out he flew! Only pushed for 8mins and it was the hardest 8mins of my life. But all worth it! We got an hour of skin to skin right away, DH cried and cut the cord once it had stopped pulsing. I got a second degree tear and have 12 stitches, which were also super painful!!! We are so in love and happy but man oh man that was tough!!
If you made it thru, high five! Here are some pics!! And I'm sorry about spelling, I'm on my phone so I'm sure it's a mess!
