DD will be 14 months old tomorrow and she's still not walking independently :-(. She does great cruising or if she's holding your hand but as soon as you let go she just sits down! I know she just has to gain the confidence and she'll be off, but I'm getting impatient!!
Re: 14 months and still not walking :-(
My LO is 15 months now and didn't start walking until 14 months... let me share what helped our lo walk!
This sounds really bad, but it really helped him. A PT I know suggested it. Get a long rope (we used a dog leash) hold one end and let LO hold the other while walking. Keep tension on it and slowly cut some slack. Practice with her walking this way until she feels more comfortable with you giving her a lot of slack... then she's walking!
Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. Our lo only did this a few times for 2 days before he gained the confidence he needed to walk.
If it doesn't work, don't worry at all!
They walk when they are ready. Good luck!
This! My son is perfectly capable of walking, but just started taking steps without holding on within the last 2 weeks. It's more a confidence thing with him. He's been cruising since 9 months and just now built up enough courage to let go. He was a late crawler too though so we expected it.
