I don't know what's worst

I hit 16 weeks today and I still can't eat like I want to. The first trimester was due to morning sickness and my second trimester is due to heartburn. I eat tumbs like they are candy to the point now they make me sick. I pee like crazy and the only thing I can drink is water which is great. I have not gain any weight yet and I just want to be able to eat. :

Re: I don't know what's worst

  • I'm 15 weeks and I'm still losing weight! I called my doctor and I was shocked they aren't concerned I've lost 15 lbs without throwing up. I eat non stop I just can't eat veggies and most meats still. I feel like I'm hurting the baby.

  • You need to talk to your doc about some alternatives to the tums.  They are obviously not working.  Also if you are average BMI than you really need to start eating. You need to gain about a pound a week to meet the weight gain requirements to sustain a healthy pregnancy.  Try drinking some chocolate milk.

Side note:  your post teeters on Brag-plaining. Very annoying.

  • Have you tried a food/heartburn log? It could be that something you are eating is causing the heartburn. If you can figure out what the offending item is and remove it from your diet, bye bye heartburn. For me, it's dairy, so I've eliminated that entirely, now I only get heartburn if I eat too much fried food late in the day.

I feel the same way! I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow and I'm still down 10 lbs from my prepregnancy weight. I am over the MS but I am still nauseous often and nothing sounds appealing to eat. I've only had heartburn once, and it was so awful that I thought I was having a heart attack! I hope your heartburn goes away soon. I feel better knowing that someone else is going through something similar. Thanks for posting :

  • Heartburn is kicking my butt too. I'm trying to eat smaller meals and stay away from the acidic foods like oranges and tomato sauce.

If it doesn't get better I may ask about zantac at my next OB appt.
