DS won't walk! Help!

in Toddlers: 24 Months+
So DS woke up from his nap today and no won't put any weight on his left foot and walk. He will only crawl or whine to be carried?  Thoughts?  No fever or anything....he's been clingy lately, but otherwise himself.  He was running around all morning at church and before nap?  Thanks for any input!

    Is he on any medication??  My DD did that when she was taking penicillin and her joints swelled up and we found out that she was allergic to it.

    If he is still not walking in the morning, call the dr.

    DD did something similar a few weeks ago.  She was sitting on the floor playing, and when she stood up, she was really shaky and then started limping.  Dr. said she could have sat on it funny or had it fall asleep, and I guess when they're this little, they can keep limping even if the leg feels better because they remember it did hurt at one point.  I would definitely call the pedi in the morning.

    Not to freak you out, but my friend's little boy did the same thing and he had a hairline fracture.

    My guess would be that he slept on it funny and/or it fell asleep. If it was painful or uncomfortable to walk on, he may not want to even if it would feel better. Good luck.

    To save you from freaking out...my daughter had a hairline fracture(fell down the stairs) and it's not a big deal.  Our surgeon gave her two weeks to bear weight...which she did and we've never looked back.   There was nothing the doctors could do...just had to heal on it's own.

    Thanks ladies.  Took him to the pedi this morning...he ordered x-rays to rule out any kind of fractures.  They all came back fine.  Dr. said if he had been sick lately it could be something called toxic synovitis where a viral infection causes inflammation in the hip and makes them not want to walk.  He  had a slight runny nose but nothing major (was poooping alot).  he said it could be caused my a slight virus even.  So treatment would just be motrin for the pain and inflammation.  If it's not better in a week to call back and then will look for other reasons.
