Update on my last post. I was questioning whether or not to give up
Pumping and just feed formula.
My DS started refusing his soy formula and would not take the bottle. I had to start EBFing him and so far things are going great. I'm halfway through my second day.
I'm not cracked or bleeding but my nipples hurt so bad. It makes me nauseous when he starts eating because it hurts so bad. Last night I cried out in pain and had tears. I know it's normal but is there anything to help besides lanolin? I feel like I'm basically starting from scratch since I was EPing before.
Re: EBFing
Good luck! It took me about 2 weeks for my nips to stop hurting. Now I have only rare discomfort... Like when LO chomps down because a dog barks and startles him

I feel your pain! I would dread my DS waking b/c i didnt want to feed him my nipples hurt so bad..DD1 wasnt as bad, but definitely toe curling!
my LC told me about mixing 3 creams together and it has helped with each of my kids in the beginning when thing were REALLY bad!! (also helped heal a cut on my nipple...and I mean DEEP cut that my DD gave me after she had teeth)
equal parts:
polysporin (or neosporin), cortizone, antifungal (lotramin)
put it on GENEROUSLY with a nursing pad to protect clothes. You dont have to wipe it off, but I always did, for feeding. Reapply again after EACH feeding. You have to be religous about it, but it really does do the trick quickly. GL
(awesome that you guys are back to BFing!!)
EDIT: also go on kellymom.com there is a lot of BFing info (about pain and how to help). This site helped me deal with overproduction too
It seems to start feeling better once he drains me a little.
I've started pumping for 5 to 10 minutes before feeding when I am engorged and leaking. It seems to help with the discomfort and prevents me from drowning little man in milk. Not sure it would help you, but it is something to try! Good luck.
Definitely agree with pumping even just 5 mins helped me in the beginning. Also a warm compress helped soften my breasts and made latching easier for LO and less painful for me cause he wasn't trying to grab a full sore hard boob.
