I thought it'd be fun to start a thread of Birthday Party Fails.
Here's mine: DS's 1st birthday was Noah's Ark themed. It was absolutely adorable, and one cute decoration was the animal Mylar balloons. We had about six different animals, and there were of course two of each. Over a year and a half later my mom and I were looking at first birthday pictures and we realized I had used two male lion balloons. Ha!

It's just a little, funny fail. I'm not saying it was a huge fail that ruined the party or anything.
Noah's Ark had two of each animal, one male and one female. That way those animals could reproduce.... If there were two male lions on Noah's Ark then lions would be extinct...
We just thought it was funny.
That is pretty funny. But who wants to decorate with a female lion--boys are more obviously lions.
The funniest part of this post is how sideways it got so quickly.
I have one from my niece's 1st. She loved Elmo so they had an Elmo themed party. Her dad showed up briefly dressed like Elmo, there was an Elmo cake, an Elmo bounce house, etc. She love every minute...right up until they brought out the Elmo pinata and people starting beating Elmo with a bat.
I sent out 30 beautiful, handcrafted invitations for my son's birthday. They were delivered to everyone, along with a bill from the post office for $.41 - I forgot to put extra postage on the 6" x 6" envelopes!
Haha I have never understood themed pinatas for this reason!
I was 7 months pregnant with my first and laughing so hard my MIL thought I was going into labor. Just the sight of my poor little niece screaming "No! El-mo! No!" as they dragged her inside.
I am a horrible person.
But, lesson learned, there are no pinatas at my kids' parties.
I saw a gif of a little boy who runs up to hug the pinata after it gets hit!
Poor girl, but super funny!!! I'll have to remember no themed pinatas.
For DD's first birthday I made the mistake of giving DH the job of ordering the rest of the food. We had hired an "all you can eat" taco cart as the main and all DH had to do was order the supplements. I didn't give specifics on the amount and he forgot we had tacos so he ordered enough food to feed 100 ppl on top of the tacos. We had so much food leftover I was inviting random people at the park to eat some of our food and some of our guests were literally taking party trays of food home!
For DS's first birthday we had it at a different park and there were a ton of yellow jackets flying all over the place. They hovered whereever there was food so pretty much all over our guests. 2 people got stung. I'm never having a party there again!
Not really my fault, but they happened to me! At DD's third birthday carnival, the huge cake my pastry chef friend made in the shape of a popcorn box with marshmallow popcorn spilling out of the top fell over because it was too hot in the van when they delivered it and it was top heavy. One whole side of the fondant fell off, then it just sort of went all leaning tower of Pisa on us. It was still yummy!
Rats took over the park we planned on having DD's pj's in the park party at, so it ended up being a pj's and pizza party that night.
I was just lurking.. But omg. You just made my day! I laughed so hard I cried for a good 5 minutes lol. And I sent this to my friend who is having her son's first birthday on sunday so she doesn't make the same mistake lol.
