I love Georgetown. Filomena's is a small upscale old school Italian restaurant where all the pasta is handmade by old ladies in the window. And it's deeeelicious. It's been years since I ate there and it's still memorable.
If the kiddies aren't going I would head to the national art gallery or the more adult areas of the smithsonian.
All the memorials at night. They are simply stunning.
Old Ebbitt's. The ambiance and the food are phenominal
If you're there on Friday night, the Marine Corps parade at 8th and I is really, really amazing. The parade starts at sundown, but the line forms very early.

Spy Museum.
Newseum. Eating.
Just walking around The Mall - the open area where the Smithsonians and Monuments are. I particularly love the Jefferson Memorial at night.
Old Ebbits Grill is a must to eat at.
Georgetown is a fun place to walk around too.

The Newseum has an awesome special on the Kennedys running right now.
Arlington Cemetary and the Kennady graves.
Ford's Theater and the Hard Rock Cafe just down the street! and definitely Lincoln's Waffle Shop if you like breakfast food.
Have fun!!
