New Mommy to Be and New to New Orleans

I am sort of new to the New Orleans area and have had a difficult time meeting friends who share my interests. I am 24 weeks pregnant and would love to make some mommy friends to share tips, babysitting, and other things with. I thought about a Prenatal Yoga or Pilates class but can't seem to find one. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be super greatful. I want my baby boy to have some little friends his age when he is born and would love to have some other mommies to meet and hang out with.

  • Hi! I'm new to Nola also. When I went to Pea in the Pod Maternity Clothing Store off Causeway they had a classroom for prenatal classes and yoga.

  • Welcome to NOLA! I've been here 6 years but my hubby and his family have lived here for generations.  We have a almost-3 year old girl and a new baby on the way around Christmas!

There are several Mommy-meet-ups and play date meetings in the area that will be helpful once your little one arrives.  Never tried prenatal yoga but it sounds fun!

Glad to offer any advice on the area!  I've loved living in NOLA.

  • Hi! I'm not exactly new to New Orleans (been here 4 years) but first baby! I'm hoping to meet other moms or soon to be moms. Family lives out of state and all of my friends are single or newly married, excited for us, but not really on the same page.

     Have you found a physician?

  • Hello,

Welcome to New Orleans, I have lived here all my life, i am a first time mom and am 34 weeks pregnant!!!

  • Congrats, and welcome to Nola! This is my first visit back to The Bump since I had my li'l sprout almost 7 months ago.  As far as classes go, the best place to get free classes before your baby's arrival is Tulane Lakeside Hospital (on the Service Road in Metairie), and check the other area hospitals too- East Jefferson and Ochsner.

Best of luck with your pregnancy, and feel free to email me for advice or to chat.

    Sincerely,

    Jamie

  • Hi, I'm also new to Nola. I've been here since September, I have a 21/2 yr old girl & I'm 24 weeks with a boy. I live in Belle Chasse & would love some play dates & to meet some new moms.
  • Hello! I moved here when I was 4 months pregnant and definitely struggled to meet people.  Wild Lotus Yoga has a great prenatal class.  Once your LO is born, there's a free parenting class at The Parenting Center at Children's Hospital called Snuggles and Struggles and also a Welcome Baby class every Saturday at the Rosa Keller Library and Community Center which is open to both expectant and new mommies.
