Emerson - boy or girl?

Do you think Emerson is a boy name or a girl name? I realize it can go both ways, but which do you think of first?
Married since 2008 | TTC #1 since 2011

2 losses: Nov '11 and Aug '12
Dx: Feb '13 - HSG shows clear tubes but minor diverticulitis; Borderline DOR; Low DHEA and low testosterone.
Moving on to IUI or IVF.

3.4.13:  Holy crap! Surprise natural BFP on cycle #19. EDD 11.12.13
We've got a peen.....it's a boy!

    It can't go both ways. Just because people use it for a girl doesn't magically change it from a boy's name. If stuff like that worked I could start calling dollar bills hundreds and be rich.

    Exactly, which is why I'm asking. To me it is a boys name. But I'm curious what others are think because there are so many boys names used for girls these days. Drives me nuts.

    NMS for a girl name (and I like boys names for girls). Too girly for a boys name. Ranks with Julian and Gabriel for me. Nice names and I like them, but I would never use them.

    Neither. It's a boy name by origin, but I would be leery of using it on a boy because it has been used so often on girls.

    Nowadays?  Girl.  Traditionally?  Boy.  Would never name my boy Emerson right now... It's like the next Avery in some ways for me.

    It's a boy's name.  Stupid people are naming their girls this name.  I'm still waiting for the unisex trend to turn truly "unisex".  I want to see parents of boys naming their sons "Rose", "Grace", "Emma", "Lilah", etc.  Then people can preach to me about "unisex".  All I see are stupid parents of girls thinking they're being hip and trendy by giving their daughters masculine names and claiming they're unisex.

    Incidentally, I really don't want to see boys with those names.  I was simply illustrating a point.Stick out tongue

    Thank you, thank you. We are having a boy, and this is on our list, but I started to wonder if it is becoming to girly. Like, more girls are being named this than boys, and as a result people would see the name and automatically think girl. I would never name my girl Emerson. For now it will stay on the list.

    My cousin's daughter has this name and they call her Emme for short. I think it could be for both though. :)

    Boy.  I do not think girl at all.
    Began TTC #1 in January 2011
    Confirmation and Removal of Endo - March 2012
    +#1 on 4/1/12 - m/c @ ~8w 5d
    +#2 Tx cycle 4 - 5 mg Letrozole + 75iu Follsitim & Ovidrel w/ IUI on 11/13/12 - EDD 7/23/13 
    7 week u/s revealed THREE babies, all with heartbeats.  153bpm, 148bpm, and 136bpm
    9 week u/s revealed loss of Baby B.  A and C are growing on track.  A measuring 9w1d with 172bpm and C measuring 9w0d with 179 bpm.  
    Elective sex determination u/s on 2/8 revealed... boy AND girl!

    This!  Sadly, Emerson was on my boy list, even though DH already said he doesn't like it  ;P  But, I DO NOT do uni-gender names, or boy names people have started using for girls. So now Emerson is out for me.
