3rd Trimester

I cant believe I was so scared of labor! It was a BREEZE

I got to the hospital already 10 cm dilated (which I didnt know or else I would have been freaking out at home).  Contractions were bad at that point but not too bad. We did paperwork, I got an epidural, they broke my water... I began pushing and baby boy was here 15 minutes later!  That was better than my first birth!!!

I must just say mid wives are AWESOME and walking during pregnancy really does help! WOOT WOOT!!!

If youre scared or nervous, dont be... the pain that does come is so worth it :)  Its the best feeling in the world.  I was so terrified labor wouldnt be as smooth as it was with my other son.  Worrying was so silly!   I hope this post is encouraging to other women who may have been as nervous as I was.

I understand this may not be the "norm" but I also had an easy labor with my son which is why I was so worried this time around. I didnt think there was any way it could be easy or easier than last time because so many women make such a huge dreadful deal out of labor.  Yes, I was dilated last week but was told it wasnt considered "labor".  So my "early stages" of labor didnt begin actually until the night before I had him (according to the mid wives).  Some of you are just being Debbie Downers or "haters" as people like to call it now days LOL.  I was simply trying to encourage other women who may have felt as nervous as I did. Sometimes it isnt as HORRIBLE as other women make it out to be... even if it doesnt happen this quickly.   I also think a lot of it is some women have bad experiences so they want you to have the same.  HATERS!

And one more thing, labor is hard for a lot of women because a lot of pregnant women (who dont have medical issues) are flat out LAZY. I walked for an hour to two hours at least five days a week with my family and my mid wives (and previous doctor) believe it has A LOT to do with the quick smooth labor.  So dont take it out on everyone else because you wanted to sit around making excuses during pregnancy about why you couldnt exercise.  You get what you work for!

If only everyone's labor was that easy.  I'm guessing if your water had broken first, you would have had a much different experience.  Glad it went so well for you.

  • Something in the milk ain't clean. At 10cm most places won't bother with an epidural. You've made it to the finish line. Now you just push that sucker out.

  • I don't know about how things roll at your hospital but paperwork and waiting for the epidural both took some time. There is no way that at 10cm I could have waited to do any of those with my son. At 10cm it was time to push.

This. Especially since many hospitals have the policy of administering at least one bag of IV fluids before even inserting an epidural.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

Wow, I was with my friend when she delivered. It was hard, painful, and long. She was doing P90X and RUNNING up until the day she delivered, would you like to call her lazy?

Wait wait, Mx4L. Are you actually saying that people who have long labors are lazy? Are you serious? You have got to be joking or delusional or just acting like a big ol' B. I would imagine laboring for days on end would be the exact opposite of lazy. My labor was only 4 hours and I had to stop working out (back problems etc. and previous injury) at 35 weeks last time. Exercise and "work" don't mean shiit when it comes to labor. Its all plain ol' luck. You sound like a HUGE turdy Twatwaffle when you say this.

Seriously, you sound smug and now very very very douchey in this post man.

pfft. But she needs to be walking!!! That is obviously the answer to making labor go smooth.

OP, I have to chime in here on this one! With DD, I worked in the laundry room at a nursing home pushing and pulling 100 pound carts of laundry up and down halls, delivering them to the residents, stocking cabinets, walking long halls ALL DAY and I had a hard 2 day labor that resulted in an emergency Csection! So I think I worked my arse off in my job! Not just an hour or two each day, I did 2x that 5 days a week!

My friend is a dance teacher and yoga instructor and worked out right until the day before labor started...and she had a terribly hard time...so yeah you're making that up but thanks for playing. .
