Your sleep training method.

What one do you use?  Do i really need a book or is there something online?

Also, saw pediatrician today and she wants the binkies gone NOW.  and the bedtime bottle.

Should i just sleep train and get rid of all these things at once?

Its going to be hell :(

Re: Your sleep training method.

  • We used Sleep Easy but cut out the check in's. I got the book and it was definitely worth it. The author gets really personal and really commiserates with you and I def teared up a few times while reading it (Maybe it was the pure exhaustion, maybe it was the feeling of desperation, or maybe I'm just weird). It worked like a charm for us after trying like 6 weeks of No Cry solutions with little to no success.

I think your pedi is a little out of line telling you those need to be gone immediately. I have heard to try to cut the bottle at a year, but my pedi told me one bedtime one for a few extra months wont harm him as long as he doesn't go to sleep with the bottle in his mouth/crib. And why the binkie? Did she give a reason?

I also dread losing the bedtime bottle and binkie, but I def won't be doing them at once. Our dentist does this thing at every 2 year appt where he gives all the child's binkie to the binkie fairy and that way its not on the parents that the binkies are gone.

  • We used Sleap Easy. there's a dvd somewhere (library maybe?) MH downloaded it Embarrassed. I much prefer a video, down and dirty, to the point. If you are not ready to ditch the pacis, don't. There are far worse things than a binky! Do what feels right for YOU! Your pedi is not the one listening to them in the MOTN.

Yes, it will be hell at first, but it is temporary, and the babies will still love you!

  • First, let me say that my pedi is kind of abrasive, but i appreciate her straight-forwardness.

She looked in their mouth and she said that she could tell that their teeth were already starting to form incorrectly, "bowing out like a ship" from sucking the binky.  She said they will definitely need braces if they keep forming that way.

also Ayden isn't really talking and he should be by now, so i think having the binky in is inhibiting his speech.

If the binky is inhibiting speach, then I kinda get it. But in that case, I would probably just leave it in the crib. I feel like that would also help with the way his teeth are coming in. I always thought unless the kid was much older, genetics were more of a factor in how their teeth come in. My sister and I were not binky babies and we both had braces. Idk, I'm not a doctor.
