Cleaning wipes?

Would anybody be able to recommend a cleaning wipe?  I'm looking for something to wipe down seats, toys, and hands & mouth.  I've thought about using regular baby wipes, but after I clean her hands, she puts them right into her mouth.  Is that safe?  I've ended up just using wet washcloths when at home, but I need something on the go.

Re: Cleaning wipes?

  • In the wipes section of BRU, they have hand and face wipes.  There are a couple of brands of them.  That's what we used until I got over the dirt.  At some point, it just seemed pointless to try to clean his hands constantly because he started licking everything.  Kids are nasty.

    You crack me up.

I use J&J hand and face wipes at home when I get her ready, and then just regular wipes on her hands and face the rest of the day. I don't think they make baby wipes that aren't safe, as babies' hands are always in their mouth. I use clorox wipes for nasty table and toy wiping, followed by (or just, for light grossness) arm&hammer nursery wipes.  If it's a cleaner place, I've been trying to let it go and not wipe, as she's big enough now, and she needs to be exposed to the real world, within reason.

  • I love Babyganics.  They have this big bag of 75 individually wrapped hand wipes so that it doesn't dry up as fast as the ones that come in a pack. I shove a bunch in my purse and the diaper bag; there is always some handy when I need it.

You remembered the brand!  I couldn't think of it, for the life of me.

You know what the deciding line was?  When we were in Belgium and he licked the train windows on every.single.train we rode.  Then, he licked the train tables.  One day, he licked the table, made a face that said, "That's NASTY!" and never licked another table.  So.gross.  He was 9.5 months.

ETA:  OP there are also pacifier wipes.  Dapple (I looked that up, as I couldn't remember the name of those either) makes ones that are individually wrapped.  So, if you have paci-dependent kids (mine was), then these may help you.  I used to keep a couple in the diaper bag and make them double as hand/face wipes as needed.

  • I used to use pacifier wipes for stuff that he would put in his mouth. I brought Wet Ones for him and to pretreat stains while out, and I also keep disinfecting wipes or spray for things like the high chair or the shopping cart now that he's outgrown the cover.
