scared! enlarged spleen, help? 26 weeks preg
I am currently 26 weeks pregnant. I suffered from mono at the age of 13 and ever since my spleen has flare ups when im too active, or get a cold. I was recently told going into the hospital for pain and discomfort on my left side my spleen has swollen to 19cm. all labs came back normal. I am concerned of what this will do to effect the development of my pregnancy, my OB says she knows nothing about the spleen being enlarged during pregnancy and to basicly tough it out. I am very concerned being that I need help getting out of bed and cannot eat large meals from the discomfort of my uterus pushing on my spleen, is this something I should change doctors to investigate? any of you moms or mommies to be experiencing anything close to this?! I also had my appendix removed when I was 11 weeks pregnant

I agree with PP. It is not ok for your doctor to give you that answer. I would seek another opinion right away.
Did you have an ultrasound done of your spleen?
If it is another mono flare up, I would assume you are fine and will need to just wait it out. However, I wouldn't assume it was a mono flare up without additional testing. Did they do blood work on you?
I am dealing with a primary infection (first time) of cytomegalovirus (CMV) which is very similar to mono. They discovered it in me due to an enlarged spleen on an abdominal ultrasound. I had the ultrasound due to having elevated liver enzymes that did not decrease over a few weeks. If this is a possibility at all, it is very serious and you need to be tested.

There's always an underlying cause of a flare up, so there's something going on behind the scenes. But I'm sure you're well aware of this. I would make an appointment with a high risk doctor ASAP.
