I know this is small potatoes, but I'd still like the opinions of you mums. FTM and BTDT mums.
There's a $27 crib sheet that matches nicely with the crib skirt I'm making; it's hard to tell that there's much of a difference at all in the taupe colours.
The problem is I'm thinking it's stupid to spend $27 on a crib sheet that will probably get thrown up on, pooped and peed on. I'm heavy into nesting right now, but I feel like this is maybe a silly purchase. We registered for two other crib sheets--both solid colours (one mint and one red)--and they were both between $8 and $12.
The taupe sheet is close to $33 with shipping. I didn't register for any baby bedding sets because I wanted to keep things simple and affordable.
I attached a picture of the fabric that's on the rocker I reupholstered (the same fabric will be used for the crib skirt), and it shows the polkadot fabric swatch of the sheets I'm considering. You can see there's a slight difference, but it's barely there. I like the fabrics together for sure.
Would you buy it?
Re: Crib sheet too expensive?
Mom to Cam and Al, now expecting baby number 3, August 2016. Praying for lots of sticky baby dust!
I got one more expensive patterned sheet I really liked then more economic solids for swaps.
Its up to you! I find that when I really like something, like this sheet, that would be PERFECT for baby's room (or whatever), I buy something cheaper and regret it. Sure, its just a sheet but if you reallllly like it, you will be looking at it for 2 years, maybe longer depending how long LO is in a crib.
Personally, I was more concerned about having organic sheets than pretty patterns. Don't get me wrong - I WANTED pretty, but went with organic. I have two sheets that we switch between - one flannel, one smooth cotton. Both are organic, cream colored, boring sheets. But it didn't really bother me and DD didn't care :-P This past week we switched her to a full-size regular bed. She has Dora sheets now and that's more exciting than her baby sheets to me.
Again, its up to you! If you love it, buy it. It will be worth it every time you look at them. I spent the same amount of money but mine were organic and boring colors.
This statement right here sold me on it. I'm doing it. It's happening. I really do love them together. The swatch they gave me is REALLY good quality too. It's somewhere between a medium and heavy weight cotton. Almost a light canvas. It's definitely good quality, although not organic. I've got organic things up the wazzoo otherwise for baby.
Not necessarily. I have had to change DD's sheets because of leaks/puking only a handful of times, which is why I never bought more than one back up - I never needed it. Granted, most babies do require frequent sheet changes (I think I got lucky!). As a rule, I would only take her sheet off to wash it each weekend. It was clean and dry and back in her crib before bed time that same night.
Is that from babybedding.com? Do you sew? You could get the fabric for a great price per yard and there's a pretty easy tutorial on pinterest to make a crib sheet. It would cost you about $10 with the fabric and elastic. I got fabric from there for curtains and made some a couple weeks ago. I got fabric from other places to make crib sheets with the look I'm going for in the nursery. Haven't gotten to those projects yet but need to soon!
On the other hand, all of our sheets have lasted well, haven't gotten ruined by use or leaks etc over 4 years.

Oh I definitely considered sewing it! I have a LOT of projects on the go for baby right now though, and decided that--although a sheet is super easy--its down on my priority list. I'm focusing on things that cost a LOT to buy on your own but cost hardly anything to make. For example, I made those two mobiles, and bought and reupholstered that rocking chair. Next is refinishing my dresser and making crib skirts. But there's more!
I know it. In fact, someone bought it for us from our registry. And now that that's happened, I'm second guessing how grey will look next to taupe. This sounds bad, but I'm probably going to return the grey and white polkadot sheet, as cute as it is.

Oh you! You're quick! How about under $20? :-) I'm kidding...but seriously...
Coral is a tough one to match when everything comes from a different source, but I'm hoping it works! Thanks!
