Jealous of Grandma

I don't know if I'm nuts or what, but when my DH's mom is around, I'm chopped liver to my DS. And I feel like she LOVES it. She's over now and just took DS into the bathroom and came out saying he just went pee pee in his potty for the first time. I'm sorry, but these are things I want to do with him. She seems to do this type of thing a lot. She was never around to raise my DH and now I feel like she's trying to make up for it with my son. He loves her so that makes me happy, so I should just get over it. Just venting to you all

    I'm fine with my kids preferring grandma - I get it: they don't see her every day, she is fun, etc.

    I don't think I would be fine with her getting those firsts - And I would definitely be upset if she came and rubbed my nose in it. I'm sorry your MIL sucks

    Sorry you feel this way. Maybe just think how lucky your LO is to have a grandma. :-)

    Ditto what Mama Ha said.  It's really normal for kids to gravitate towards grandparents, because they are fun and special. 

    Maybe try talking to her about how it is important for you to get to experience as many of the firsts, yourself, as you can?  It's doesn't have to be a confrontation, but a few well-placed, gentle remarks or comments might not hurt.
