Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Csection Mamas.

Hi ladies,

When did you notice most of the swelling in your midsection went away, and when do you think most of the skin tightened back up?  I'm 13 weeks PP, and there's still some mushiness that I don't think is related to extra fat (I've gotten my body fat tested due to a gym contest and at 9 weeks PP it was only 16%) so I'm assuming it's swelling...

When does the swelling go? I've heard 4-6 months....

At 6 weeks I think my stomach was completely flat. I don't know if I got lucky or what.

I'm in your exact position- would love to know when!

  • 5 months PP and sorry to say the "mushiness" is still there. It is slowly getting better, but I can't see it ever being exactly the way it was pre-pregnancy.

  • It took a good 6 months for me to not look pregnant anymore. I'm 18 month PP, and I still have some swelling/bloating around my incision area, which my OB says is completely normal.

This. I still had a little pooch before I got pregnant with DD and that was 4.5 years after my CS with DS. I did lots of ab work too. pretty sure it will never be flat like it was before. Boooo!

  • All of the mushiness was gone before 3 months.  However, I still have a pouch; which I am sure is not going to go away without diet and lots of exercise.

Ok so it looks like 5+ months isn't unreasonable. My stomach IS flat, it just has some mush over my abs on the lower part that don't feel like fat, just...mushy mush.

Thanks for everyone's input! I feel so weird in a bathing suit because I'm toned everywhere then I have this mushy area lol!

  • Well, my mom had a c-section with me and I'm 23.... so, never?? She still has some of those issues going on. It never truely went away with my daughter either. She was about 20 months when we got pregnant with my son. I'm hoping it goes away eventually.

  • By 7/8 mos I was back to looking exactly as I did pre pregnancy with DD. Now, after my VBAC, my hips have widened a great deal. I guess that's what happens when a small woman pushes out a 9 pounder. I don't think that will go away like the bulge over my c/s site.

Must be nice. Yes count yourself lucky. I'm 4 months PP and while I'm only 2 lbs from pre pregnancy weight, my stomach looks way different and I don't think it'll ever go back. ::mobile angry face::
