August 2011 Moms

Awesome.

I just got to listen to my son scream bloody murder for 30 minutes while I swept and mopped, cleaned my bathroom, did the dishes, and gathered up all the trash from tonight's dinner that was all over the counter.  And did anybody offer to hold him instead of listening to him scream?  Nope.  You know, since no one else can do this, ever.  Earlier I got to listen to him scream while I cleaned the living room.

Two days ago my best friend had to come over in order to help me with the kids while I switched their bedrooms (so DD1 could have her own room) because nobody in my house would take a hint when I said that I wanted to switch their rooms, nor did they help when I tried to do it myself and got halfway through and couldn't finish because the kids kept me too busy.  It looked like those rooms had exploded and vomited mess into the living room.  The only response I could get in regards to the mess was some wondering when I'd get it cleaned up.

It's been three days since my last shower.

He's screaming right now.  I'm so burnt out and can't figure out what he needs (he's fed, clean, burped, good to go temperature-wise, I've bounced, rocked, cuddled...) that he's just going to have to scream because I can't muster up enough give-a-sh!t to figure out anything else.

  • Ugh I wish your family would get a grip and help you out.  I really hope things ease up soon.

  • Awww, NF, that totally sucks!

I know this might sound trite,  but try to take it one day at a time.  When DD was a newborn, many days seemed awful and neverending.  Just keep in mind that things will settle down eventually!

  • I'm so sorry they don't offer to help. Are there any neighborhood kids that want to hold the baby or keep an eye on the girls?

What if you just demanded help? My family is terrible with taking a hint. I have to state their names and then tell them what to do. Ex: "mom! Hold the baby, I am cleaning up." I noticed if I'm not super direct they just assume I don't need help.

  • I am so sorry you have having such a hard time right now. I don't understand how no one can figure out that you need help. If I were in your shoes I probably would have blown my top already. I hope things get better for you soon!
