Food Allergy

Congestion from allergy

So I've figured out that DD is allergic to peaches and apples. The peaches she gets hives and the apples she gets congested, itchy eyes, and gas. She also threw up once. I have food allergies, so I'm not too surprised that she does, though DS doesn't...
How long dies the congestion take to go away? I rarely get that symptom from food, mines generally intestinal, itchiness, and dizziness, so I'm not too familiar with it. I know with beef my symptoms hang around a day or two, but would that be the same for her?
Also when would you recommend seeing the allergist? She's six months so probably too early yet.

Re: Congestion from allergy

  • I am not sure about the congestion, but I would go ahead and call a pediatric allergist now.  My first daughter went to the allergist at 3 months old and I took my other one in at 9 weeks just to talk to him about things to expect.  My first daughter was very severely allergic to many foods as a baby, so I was being very cautious with #2 and wanted to get her in as a patient ASAP.
