.... but we call baby "stallion" because I dyed my hair blonde (just dyed it back dark brown yesterday) and my hubby told me I looked like Daenerys from Game of Thrones. And her baby in the book was The Stallion Who Mounts the World. So yea .... stallion it is.

We're not cutesy people. We don't really call it anything yet. Maybe after my next u/s I'll start to feel attached and we'll come up with something. I still feel far too nervous and emotionally detached.
We call ours Little Bit. My brother has the rest of my family calling it Ink Spot because he said that is what it looked like on the u/s pic that I sent him.

I completely get this. While I was relieved to see a healthy baby growing in me, it wasn't until the 2nd ultrasound that I finally let myself get attached and think this is really going to happen! It was until after that we really started referring to the baby as a nickname.
This one's Sweet Pea. We had Peanut, Little Bean, and now Sweet Pea. I picked Sweet Pea because I'm kinda hoping this baby is a girl, and that just sounds more girly.
For our previous mc we had nicknamed the baby "baby turniphead" from Lost. This time we are hesitant to get too attached yet.
My hubby and I have been together since 2008. Married 5 years in Dec. DX with PCOS and
annovulatory hypothalamus. TTC for baby #2 for 10 months BFP on May 29th 2015
Before our first ultrasound we would refer to it as whatever fruit/veggie it was the size of. Our first u/s, the baby looked like a duck so we call it ducky now.

Cue nerd music.
Haha, huge GOT nerds here too, and we call it "the stallion" too! I thought we were so original *le sigh*
Me: 34, DH: 37, DD: 12 (prev relationship). TTC 5 years, MFI (DNA fragmentation, low count, poor morphology). IVF/ICSI Sep 2011 - BFN. FET Dec 2011 - Chemical. Not trying or preventing since then - we'd given up hope and moved on with our lives. Signed up for classes to go back to school and become an MD - surprise pregnancy!
We call it by its unisex name, Golden. I have a pet peeve when ppl call babies "the baby" when the baby has a name.
So is it still a pet peeve when people don't have a name yet? Or don't even know the sex? I mean, it is a baby. It's not a nugget, or a peanut, or a bean, or anything else. But you pick "baby" as the name you have the pet peeve for? Strange.
We're very unoriginal and don't really do nicknames. We've got "baby". We aren't planning to find out the gender so this might not change until we've got said baby in our arms.

For the past two or three years, when we've talked about our someday child, we have alternated between a couple of different bird names in Icelandic (we live in Iceland; my husband is an Icelander)--one masculine, one feminine. There are a number of bird names that double as human names in Icelandic, but these two are not among them! I'm not telling you what they are because who knows, they might just end up sticking...
I call mine Prometheus - yes from the prequel to the Alien movie series! lol My DH has also adapted to calling it Prometheus
Every time my mom hears me call the baby that she laughs and tells me that I have to stop. I must admit - it has stuck so I don't know what we will switch to!
No nicknames with DD, and none so far w/ this one. Just "the baby"
Same here. It might sound weird, but I don't find myself referring to the baby much at all. We are still not sharing with people, and when we do talk about it, DD starts saying "Mommy baby in belly" or asks to "Pet the baby" and rubs my stomach. So, I think I'm subconsciously trying to minimize talk so that she doesn't spill our secret. I guess maybe a code name would work...
This is weird but with my DD I told my DH that it was like I had a bug in my belly when I would feel the little movements when she was big enough. And that name stuck and goes with her name (Bethany). So even out in real life I call her "Bethany bug" ...which my mom acts like is so offensive..but I like it and DH even calls her that sometimes. This LO doesn't have a nickname yet, usually we just say "baby" or "baby brother or sister". We are so not team green, I can't wait to find out what this baby is so we can just call him or her by the name we pick!

Are you afraid an internet stranger is going to steal your names?
No, worse--I'm afraid an internet stranger is going to make fun of our names!
Fair enough. Not gonna lie, it could happen.

This one is Yoda. My favorite character from Star Wars. DS was Spock because he had to "Live long and prospure."
Yeah - we're a family of geeks over here.
See now when I hear Prometheus, I think of Greek mythology.
"Known for his humanity and for being a champion of humanity" I'll take that too!
But the more I read about it ugh I'll stick with the movie analogy or come up with a new name lol
