Who here has the Britax B-Ready and B-Safe?

When we thought we were done with kids we sold my City Select on Craigslist and literally less than a month later found out we were were pregnant with baby #4. Another City Select isn't in the budget, but since our carseat has also expired I figured maybe I should take advantage of Britax's June promo and get both for $375.

My only concern is DS #2 is the "baby" right now and he is 2 next month and roughly 25 lbs. He will be 2.5 when #4 arrives and I am worried about the weight limit on the Britax B-Ready. Once baby is bigger and can sit, I'm assuming I'll just put DS #2 in the main seat and baby in the jump seat since the weight limit is smaller for the back seat. Anyone have this setup and does it work? There are no stores in a 50 mile radius that carry this stroller so I am at the mercy of reviews and Amazon's return policy.

Any feedback both positive and negative (on stroller and carseat) is welcome and appreciated.

I don't own it yet (it's coming in the mail) but I think I can help.  First, your 2.5 year old should fit for awhile since the lower seat weight limit is 35 lbs and the upper seat weight limit is 55 lbs.  At 2.5, I don't think he'll gain 10 lbs that quickly. Second, the lower seat reclines flat while the upper seat does not so you can use the car seat in the upper area and put your DS in the bottom or you can put your newborn in the bottom seat or click in the car seat and DS in the upper seat.

Amazon has free returns on it so if you don't like it you can send it back for free within 90 days.

I think the B-Ready is the best tandem available so I would do it for sure.  I did a ton of research before I got it and chose it for the seating options, price and the fact that the push is very nice with 2 kids.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I have owned tandems before that were hard to push once there were two toddlers in the seats. Hoping this one isn't too bad. If DS is anything like my older 2 he'll be anti-stroller by 3 anyway so if we can just get through baby's first year I should be good. I think I'll pull the trigger and hope it works out.

  • I only have one child but I have the B-Ready with the Chaperone AND the second lower seat. My IL's didn't want us to be without the lower seat when we eventually had kid #2, if Britax came out with a different model. I loved mine so much I recommended it to my boss (who has 6mo old twins) and my best friend. So in total, I have used one with two Britax B-Safe infant seats, one Britax Chaperone, the Chaperone/bucket seat combo, and the bucket seat/regular upper seat combo. I have pushed two toddlers all over the county fair in it, and have even run a (VERY) hilly 5K with my 19mo old in it. I love that stroller!

I wouldn't worry about your bigger child. Put the oldest in the bottom while the carseat is attached. Once baby is big enough to be in the stroller seat, put baby in the lower seat and toddler in the top seat. If toddler hates lower seat, buy the attachments and put the infant seat on the bottom and the toddler in the top seat.

  • I plan on putting my DD who is currently 25lbs in the upper seat and just purchasing the car seat attachment to act as the lower seat! I think an older child may be unhappy in the second seat. The lower second seat as pp have said fully reclines so you can safely put a newborn in it.

I have them and love them. I haven't used the 2nd seat yet, but I've heard great things bout the handling and that surprisingly the lower seat doesn't bother most kids. It's got my vote, especially during the free ride event.

I think my DD will love the bottom because she can climb in and out on her own.  I also think she will like the cavelike aspect of it and think its fun.

If it means anything, our nanny runs 3 miles a day with two 15 month olds (22-24 pounds) in our B-Ready.  She says it is obviously a bit harder than when they were 8 months old--but she finds it enjoyable enough to keep doing it on a daily basis.

Sorry to be debbie downer but the B-Ready should not be used for running.

The front wheels lock in place just like a jogging stroller.  I feel 100% safe allowing our nanny to jog in our paved neighborhood pushing the stroller.

That's your decision to make but just because a strollers wheels lock doesn't mean it's safe to jog with.

  • Stella is 34lbs and almost 4. She fits and is just fine riding in either seat. Georgia is almost 2 and at 23lbs she is the same way. we make them take turns. Honstly I have never understood the complaint of "the kid in the bottom has a crappy view" my kids don't have a choice but to be in a stroller sometimes, they understand it and have never issues being there. G prefers it.
For your situation, this is a wonderful option for a stroller. Get the car seat as your free seat, as it is more expensive than the jump seat.
