I have been going back and forth with a couple that I thought were cute but they are also very gender dependent, which I am not sure I want to go the route. Any ideas from anyone?
I know if it is another girl I want the nursery to be lavender, but am open to a particular theme. Figure I will find a crib set I love in that color scheme and go from there. I am really having trouble finding boy specific bedding that I like, though...so am interested to see what others are thinking!
I thought I did but now I'm rethinking. Originally I was going to go with owls for a girl and vintage hot air balloons for a boy, but I feel like both of those are overplayed now. So...lately I've been thinking of doing a watercolor theme. Sounds nebulous, and it sort of is, but Google Black Crow Studios watercolor wallpaper to see my inspiration. Oh, and I'll save you some time: to wallpaper my 11-feet-tall, 15-feet-wide accent wall, it would have cost around $2000. But they do sell watercolor canvases for around $500, which is slightly more affordable (they're HUGE and you can take them with you if you ever move).
I promise to never forget that this little dude deserves just as much love after the baby comes as he has now.
Me & H: 28
TTC #1 since 7/12...come on baby!
Our walls are yellow with red trim and we're going with Winnie the Pooh. Still gender neutral, easy to find stuff to decorate with, and the only thing we could agree on!
I had to laugh though. My gf is due in October, and when I showed her the nursery yesterday, she said that they'd been working on a Pooh theme too! Eh, at least we can shop together!
We were Team Green with DS and ended up doing a Snoopy theme. We painted the walls beige and put up a Snoopy border around the top (green/blue/white as the primary colors). Used the quilt from the bedding set as a wall decoration and got Snoopy lamp, sheets, etc...it came out so cute. Now I'm sad that we have to move and can't use it again for the next kiddo! We will probably do the same theme in the nursery in our new house, just without the border since we don't have any more of that wall paper left.
I'm doing a gender neutral nursery. I'm doing gray, white, and yellow with cute elephants. I like clean and something that won't be too baby after a year or two.
honestly, i don't know what little details to do. we're team green to the end, so it needs to be gender neutral, but i also don't know that i want a really "themed" nursery, but i can't think of what else to put on the walls/etc. i'm really the most uncreative person that ever lived.

I was just looking at ideas on Pinterest this morning. Right now the nursery has a chair rail that goes around the room with cream on top and a blueish grey on the bottom. DS will be moving into the other bedroom and getting a dinosaur theme room. I'd really like to avoid painting the nursery so I've been looking at girl nurseries where the wall is blue and the accents are different shades of pink. I love the look but the blues used in those color schemes are usually light blue or a robin's egg color blue. It's not really much to paint even if I do decide to paint but I think regardless that's the color scheme I'm going to do.

Not really, other than that the nursery will have blue walls. The paint is in good shape and we don't really want to paint. If it's a girl, I was thinking of having one of those tree decals and maybe some owls. Not sure about a boy. We already have some monkeys themed stuff and race cars. I'll probably let DS pick the theme if we have a boy.
ETA: My main goal is not to spend too much money. My three-year old has already had three different "themes" in his room. We started out with nautical, then decided monkey was cuter when he got more of that personality. Then when we upgraded his room to a toddler room, we bought a race car bed and decorated the room with race cars. So I'm not really looking long term with this nursery design, but I do want it to be cost effective.
I'm really not into themes, but I'm a biologist, so there will be animals. Our walls are already pale yellow, which we'll probably stick with. My only idea in the decoration department is to frame a series of animal pictures that are part of a calendar we picked up in Japan while honeymooning. Calendar here: https://www.superbuzzy.com/shop/product/2012-washi-calendar-animals/ each picture tears out to a 5x7" postcard size. It's pretty cool that the baby's due in December and, naturally, the calendar ends in December!
I really want to do sea creatures if it's a boy. Cute little crabs and lobsters and fish everywhere... eeeeeeeeek can't wait! Not sure what I'll do if it's a girl, still thinking about it.
If its a boy, we will likely do some sort of nice (but low key) sports theme, I am not into animal themes, jungle or cars/trucks too much and DH and I are big sports people.
For a girl, we just moved DD into the other bedroom into her big girl room so we still have a lot of stuff from her nursery yet which I will incorporate into the new LO's nursery.
this was an easy decision. Lilly Pulitzer's first impression print if it's a girl, rubber duckies if it's a boy. Light blue walls with light trim either way (my nursery was blue and I liked it). My mom and I are going to sew most of the stuff for it.
I see another Lilly Pulitzer print is coming out in fabric that's mostly turquoise/green/navy and I'm really tempted to do that if it's a boy... but I can see DH putting his foot down lol.
We have ours picked out only b/c it's "leftover" from DS. We went with a beach theme with him but after a few months we realized that the room we picked for his nursery was very cold in the winter and hot in the summer (we recently moved into the house and had not been in it long enough to know). We ended up moving him to another room (now a safari/jungle theme) and have since corrected the temperature issue, but we left the room beachy. The theme will work well if I have a girl ... I'll just add some girly touches with the bedding and wall art (I have a friend who insists on painting us a mural - soooo excited!!).
that'll be so great!! My BIL is a great artist so both my nephews' nurseries and rooms were pretty fancy and painted. older nephew now has a pirate ship room and one wall looks like a stormy ocean. SO impressive.
This LO will have the same nursery set as my son. I paid way too much for it to not be used again. It's CoCalo Alphabet Soup. We picked it out before we knew if we were having a boy or girl. My son's room will be a Boston Red Sox theme. I'm so excited!
I want something soft and soothing for the nursery, so the theme will really just be the colors we select. The playroom will have a more fun theme .... I love the Restoration Hardware Baby & Child colors and the fact that they bring in a bit of novelty without having to buy into an entire theme. So, I guess our theme will be Restoration hardward B&C? I have a few Jonathan Adler baby animal statues that will likely go in the room... When I was pregnant last time I bought a ton of his menagerie themed christmas ornaments (just white porcelain animals) and I will probably strategically place them in the hutch and whatnot...
My favorite idea, is that the playroom will have a DNA "portrait" of a gel of my, DH and LO's DNA.
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs. My rainbow arrived 10/15/14. TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.

Same here on the first nursery set. We bought our stuff from Land of Nod, it's called oh what a beautiful morning (sun/trees, etc.). We were team green with DS, and will be team green again. It's a nice gender neutral set. So we won't have much, if anything to buy.
With our daughter, we did yellow walls and a garden theme (tall poppy and magnolia decals from Ikea, tin butterflies from oaxaca, a twig, and an origami crane mobile).
This time I'm considering an underwater theme or sky blue walls (with clouds) and things that fly - hot air balloons, antique style airplanes, birds, or perhaps planets.

I'm leaning toward an elephant themed nursery....with gray and yellow as the main colors. We are going to find out the sex but I figured we would go gender neutral anyway just in case we decide to have another baby in the future. We can just reuse some of the nursery linens and other stuff.
Husband wants dinosaurs theme if its a boy, I want jungle animals.
If its a girl, pink everything with flowers and butterfly's theme.
My grandmother offered to sew all the crib sheets and blankets and stuff, so I'm excited.
Not yet. We did do baby safari with my son and I loved it but we went so overboard. We painted vines on the walls and flowers and DH painted a big giraffe off of a little wall decal we had and we put the wall decal next to it (like mommy and baby). It was our first and we were excited. We realized later that painting over all of that was a nightmare and because it was so over the top it only lasted about 2 years. When he switched to a toddler bed, we felt like we had to change it. This time we will go simple. We just got a new house so we gutted the room (literally) and we are making it exactly what we want. I think we will focus more on putting up some nice trim (especially with a girl's room), finding a paint color we both love and just finding a nice bedding set (crib, dresser, rocking chair, etc) that all match. I know I will have a "theme" but I will go light with it. It is not going to take over the room. I want something he/she can grow into a little bit.
Is it bad that I have absolutely no idea what kind of nursery we want?? I'll be recruiting my friends who are better at interior design than I am! Luckily they are already clamoring to help out! But I'm not worrying about it until we find out boy or girl next month.
I'm generally not a big theme person... my daughter's room is just bright colors aqua, hot pink, lime and yellow...but for a boy we have always talked about a vintage Florida State football nursery. I think we will do some vintage prints and a few football accent things, with simple garnet and gold bedding.
After 2+ years and multiple treatment cycles, including an IVF vacation in Costa Rica/Panama, IVF #2 brought us our miracle baby!
We did an Ocean theme. I love how everything turned out, and it worked for boy or girl, since we weren't finding out. It was a blessing because we had a girl, then a boy, and they ended up having to share a room after our city said we couldn't build another room onto our home, like we planned. I was so glad to have not done something so strong one way, that it couldn't have worked for the other side.
Expecting Baby #3 to complete our family.
I have an adventurous 2 Year Old Toddler Boy & thoughtful 4 Year Old LIttle Girl!
I have a few Jonathan Adler baby animal statues that will likely go in the room... When I was pregnant last time I bought a ton of his menagerie themed christmas ornaments (just white porcelain animals) and I will probably strategically place them in the hutch and whatnot...
Love Jonathan Adler. I might need to steal this idea
I don't know about a theme yet, but I've already bought the bedding and it's gender neutral. I really wanted something we could use for a second child. The bedding (I posted it last week) is blue, green and burnt orange. We'll paint the walls a cream color most likely and have some canvases done by my best friend who is a great artist. I would love to do a huge mural but we want to sell our house in a couple years so I think that would be kind of a waste. If we do canvases, we can re-use them too. I'm not sure what animals I want yet, but I love elephants and giraffes. The sea creatures idea is really cute too!

So jealous! This is what I wanted while we were TTC, but they no longer sell it and I haven't been able to find it on eBay either.
Idk if we will do a theme. The walls are blue and we already have beige blackout curtains in there. So boy or girl, it will probably just be light blue with brown, beige, and cream. Maybe I'll incorporate A B Cs or something into that.
Ours will be baby safari. It's gender neutral and so cute!
OMG what an adorable idea!! I am so glad we're finally posting about these haha. I love hearing everyones' plans! I was thinking baby farm animals or maybe dancing teddy bears (I know it sounds corny but I love dance) or a picnic in the park theme. So many ideas, but I know I definitely want a theme for our baby girl.

That's such a neat idea!!
For us if it's a girl I'm torn between lavender/white/silver or forest theme
For a boy vintage sports theme but not too overdone
... and proud of it!!! Come on, it's freaking awesome!! Not sure which colors we would select, but this is a sample!
