Vacation Bathtime Question

Hi all!

We're headed to the beach next week to join my in-laws. We rented the same house last year, so I'm familiar with the bathrooms. However, we pretty much just washed DD in the sink. This year is a different story. She's very tall and weighs about 35 lbs. My MIL called to say that she was worried about putting DD in the tub, because it's very slippery. I seem to remember this from last year when I would take showers in the same tub. I thought about getting a little inflatible tub that she could said in, but all the ones I'm finding are only good up to 25lbs. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

This. Not worth the hassle or bulk to carry yet another thing.

  • Ditto the buy a bathmat or put a towel down that's what we do!
  • I would just deal with it. You won't be leaving her alone in the tub, so I don't think it's a big deal. DS refuses to stay sitting down in the tub so he slips regularly. He loves it, and I'm right there to help him get up if his face goes in.

  • When we travel by car, we bring her foldable tub (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NB0FT8/ref=twister_B004NRNSRI?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

She loves this tub and we like to bring a few familiar things. At times this play as a play pan for us. we put toys in there and she can just sit and play for a short period of times.

When we don't travel by car, we bring her  water shoes. She's 16months now so we plan to bring her water shoes everywhere we go!

If you're that worried, buy a non-slip mat to put down in the bottom of the tub. I definitely don't think you need to take a whole separate bathtub for her.

Definitely not something I have ever worried about, especially over a year.  DS has been taking baths in the bathtub at home for quite a while now.  However, if you are worried do the above.  I definitely would not bring another tub.

I cannot even imagine worrying about this. You're renting a house. There's a bathtub. End of story. Go, have fun, your toddler will be fine. When we go on beach vacations we barely even use the indoor tubs/showers b/c we use the outdoor shower. I'm sure you'll have one of those.

Yeah. This. I don't think slipperiness of a tub has crossed my radar of things to worry about while away from home. Half the time on vacation, I just rinse her off in the shower with me and call it a day anyways.

Or like pp said, use a towel, or hang on to her and make bath time fast.

  • Thank Ladies! I was way over thinking this looking back. I just need to relax and enjoy vacation.

We do this - but use a hand towel

  • And if you dont want to get a rubber mat, then they sell those little suction grips for the bottom of the tub.  They would take up less space in your luggage!
