Cleaning creases and rolls?

My DS isn't very pudgy at all, but he has this one neck crease in the front that I can rarely get at since he doesn't tilt his head back when I ask (obviously Smile ).  Its quite red and raw in there tho.

Any tips or tricks for cleaning these creases?  Treating the creases?  SHould I be keeping it dry, how? or Should we put vaseline in there?

Re: Cleaning creases and rolls?

  • I try to slide a soapy washcloth thru there when bathing, then rinse well.  When he's on the changing table, he's constantly trying to roll and to do so he has to arch his head and back that's when I put a little Vaseline on that area while it's exposed.

My DS is pretty pudgy haha. He has that neck crease, so I just try to wipe in there once a day during a diaper change, make sure it's dry and I'll put some A&D on it. Usually clears up in a day or two.

  • Just keeping doing it. I started by lying him on my lap, face up and letting his head hang slightly off of my leg so that I could get in there. And then I started tilting his chin back while he was just on his back on a flat surface. Now, he often will just let me do it by holding his head back on his own. A few times, I noticed that he closes his eyes and kind of enjoys it...especially when he's sleepy :)

We use aquaphor or corn-starch based baby powder. I know some people don't like to use baby powder (and we are careful to put it on our finger and wipe it in the crease, not shake it on there from the bottle) but it clears it up within a day.
  • I make sure to give DD lots of tummy time after her bath so her neck can air out & dry.
  • I get my hand all soapy at bath time and get it there, then rinse well.  I also put powder on it like pp said.

  • We had the same issue, we used Aquaphor and it cleared it up.

  • Clean it with a wipe or wet washcloth during tummy time then let it air out.
  • We had the same problem.  We put dd on her tummy and were able to clean it well, let it dry and then put aquaphor in the creases.  Doing all this has really helped.
  • Glad to see I'm not the only one...I also try to get it good and clean and apply poweder with my fingers and it drys right up.  I asked the hubby to check it at her next change and he couldn't see anything.
