I had my first apt yesterday. The primary reason I went to acupuncture was for the "rocks" in my neck and back. The knots are horrible and cause me great pain. Secondly, was to address my sleep insomnia. I don't sleep well at night. Then lastly, fertility.
She was very impressed with my charts. And based a lot of my treatment off of my cycles. She said, once we "release" the tension in my neck and back, that should help regulate everything else. She also came up with a "digestive disorder". This digestive disorder bascially means I have a cold soul (that's my words, not hers). I always have cold feet and hands. She wants me to use Castor Oil Packs to warm up my lower abdomen. Drink warm drinks (no juice) and cook all my food. No raw fruit and veggies. This helps my digestive track move things along and not to become so stagnant. She gave me a list of foods to help transition from eatting "cold" foods to neutral/Warm foods.
She did do 15 min worth of acupuncture. I think she used more than 50 needles on my yesterday! It didn't hurt at all and I couldn't even tell what she was doing! Then she did some electric thing on my neck and placed a heat lamp over me during that 15 min. I went in with a pain level of 8 and came out at a 5 or 4. I did help "release" the tension. Next week I start a formula of different herbs and "cupping". It's expensive treatment since I pay everything OOP, but it's worth the try!
If you got this far, thanks for listening!

TTC since 2010
lots of IUIs and 1 IVF all BFNs
FET currently on hold
I would! It helped for sure. There were some patterns on mine that I didn't think twice about, but had some meaning.
BURP...excuse me!
Another burp...sorry

Very interesting! I'm becoming more and more tempted to try out acupuncture but I don't like the cost.
So are you going in once a week?

Yes once a week for three weeks, then once every two weeks...until I can stablize my tension. I understand your frustation is the cost. If its something that will make you happy and more comfortable. Then you have to do what is good for you and just do it. It will be worth it in the end. And anything that avoids me going into surgury, i'll try it first.
Yeah you're right.
And, like you, I'm looking into it for more than just fertility. I've been having a lot of neck/shoulder pain lately and terrible headaches. I'm thinking it might help....we'll see. I may just have to bite the bullet and pay up, but since I'm not employed right now it makes me nervous to spend that kind of money on something that's not "necessary".

Yeah that's hard to justify the cost. Save up for a few months maybe and then try it?
I've had it on my to do list to call and make an appointment, but haven't gotten around to it. Your follow-up just solidifies that I need to!
I hope this works out for you! Keep us posted.
I went to : https://www.nccaom.org/
I wanted someone who was nationaly certified. There are also two types (from my understanding) Acuppuncture/Chiropractor or Acupuncture/Chinese Medicine.
I wanted someone with chinese degree. Then once I found a few from the above website, I researched them. And the one I had picked was based on their website. Then just went from there. GL
Thanks for posting that! I'm a little worried about ending up with some sketchy.
I am glad you enjoyed your first appointment. I know it will keep getting better! Also did you know that Green tea (even if it is served warm) is a "cool" drink. I am not sure if your person recommended not drinking Green Tea. I would highly suggest drinking Red Raspberry Leaf tea (https://www.traditionalmedicinals.com/RaspberryLeaf)
Yeah she said green tea was good all around tea, but also said ginger was also good for this as well. I'll look to see if I can find any of that raspberry tea...that looks delish!
