my hat off to working moms

{note this is not to start an argument}

I work two days a week, 10hour shifts. Today I came home from work completely exhausted and brain dead (as I usually do) And all I wanted to do was chill in front of the tv and space out.

Just want to take a moment and take my hat off to all the 40hour+ working moms - Not quiet sure how you do it!

Re: my hat off to working moms

  • Being a mom is hard work for all of us! We all make it work in the best way for our families.

    Thanks! It is actually nice to hear some appreciation for us moms that have (or want) to work full time. It's tough and exhausting and there is no time for down-time. Being a working mom is like trying to be superwoman!

    I think both "working" and "non working" parents pull a 24/7 job whether we're paid or not.  My DH and I both work full time one opposite shifts with no day care and different days off.  It's hard sometimes, but works for our situation and we do our best to make it work and share the repsonsibilities at home and still make room for family/couple time.

  • I have so much admiration for working moms. It must be so hard balancing a career, raising children, and managing a home. I can only handle one and a half of those tasks. It especially makes me appreciate my mom who worked full time and raised three kids by herself. I can't imagine being a working parent let alone a single working parent!

    As a working mom, I thank you for the compliment! And, I going to pay it right forward to all the SAHMs.  Seriously, I don't know how you guys do it!  I love my little guy to pieces but the days that I am home with him all day (by myself or even when DH is with us) I am way more exhausted than any day I go to work.

    So, high fives to us all who are making it work in our own ways for our families! :-)

    DH and I do the same.  And frankly my hat is off to SAHMs because if I didn't get a break from my kid 5 days a week, I think I'd lose my mind.  Work is where I relax and get to pee alone!

    This exactly.  I love my lunch break when I'm at work.  One glourious hour where NO ONE needs/wants something from me.

  • I've been both a full time working mom and a SAHM, and they are both hard! As a working mom I stayed exhausted from a physically demanding job and felt like I was neglecting dd, as a SAHM it drove me nuts to be home 24/7, and with there always being a child in the house, nothing ever stays clean for long! I like the balance I've got now, I only work part time 2-3 days a week for 6 hours and I'm loving it.

  • See and I'm  the opposite. I did the SAHM thing before and now I have been working full time for four months and I find SAHM was way more exhausting. Work is, most days, a break for me. I like the balance I have now more than when I was not working. I felt like all I did was clean and tend to baby. However, I do miss my SAHM friends a lot....

    Thank you!

    So many people I know that are SAHM have made snarky comments about how they don't know how someone could leave their kid with a day care or complain about how hard it is to leave their LO's for like, one day, and it makes me so ANGRY.

    I agree with this and also with Kimbus because I would be a terrible SAHM. My job keeps me sane. Hats off to those that can stay at home because I could never do it.
