I have to go work now, for real.  I'll come back in a few hours to check in - leave me something good to read!

  • Howell is constipated so I just let him eat half a pint of blackberries. I wonder if I've just shoot myself in the foot? Only time will tell, I suppose....

I'm reading the first Harry Potter. My brain can't process new information or things written for grownups right now. I miss challenging books but I just can't right now.

I actually got angry with Howell for the first time last night. I didn't do anything to show this anger besides pleading with him to sleep but I feel like a terrible Mom. It's not his fault he's backed up. I mean, I am the one who chooses his food. And it's also not his fault his parents are near their breaking points. I need to be better for him. He was up what felt like every fifteen minutes last night. I wish I was joking. This is a million times worse than the four month wakeful. I have so much to do and all I plan to tackle is sitting on the couch and drinking coffee.

On a similar note, Howell always throws half his waffle on the floor. Then, when I am cleaning up, he will find the desecrated waffle bits and eat them off the floor. Sometimes I discourage this behavior and sometimes I turn a blind eye. I mean, at least it's not glass and it's less for me to sweep.

  • I was about to vacuum the living room floor and let M play with her container of Puffs because it seemed to be the only thing keeping her happy. I went into the kitchen to grab the vacuum and when I came back into the living room she had opened the container, spilled every last one onto the floor, and was crawling around, chatting to herself while she picked them up one by one and ate them.

She'd pick one up, eat it, spot another one, squeal, and crawl to that one, eat it, see another one, etc.

I don't know what's worse...that she ate almost a half a container of Puffs at once, or that she ate them off of the floor.

  • Baker, I'm so sorry that you had a rough night on top of your other worries right now!

DD just fell back to sleep. She's been sleeping SO much worse than normal. I should be forcing myself to catch another hour of sleep but I can't.

DSS has had play dates at the pool twice this week with his habilitation provider and his girlfriend's son. He's going again today because he's been in a mood and I'm afraid he will act up in court. I feel like I've been shipping him off ::sad face::

I ate a York peppermint patty and drank a Coke for lunch yesterday.

ETA: DD also chews on my flip flops when I'm not paying attention. Her face was covered in black smudges the other day from them... Yummy.

  • I am working for VBS this year for like the third year in a row. The church is not one that we attend even semi-regularly. And now I know why. They are teaching the kids creationism. I personally think it is too complex for a "fun" summer program that lasts four days, but what makes it worse is that some of the songs they are teaching the kids are making fun of scientists and evolution. That is not the attitude I want my kids to have about it, and honestly I'm not quite certain where I fall in that debate, so it I get a little angrier every day that we go. We will not be going back.

  • This is awful, but I am a little happy that the baby I was babysitting this spring got Roseola from Carson. I was only supposed to watch the kids until she found another sitter, and I don't think she ever tried.

There were about 3 different times that I called her and said, "Hey, it is totally your call, but I thought I should let you know that one of the kids is sick and will not be going to school in the morning." And she still sent her kids every time. That really annoyed me. I TOLD her that C had roseola and she still sent her kids. Now she is freaking out about it. I have no sympathy for stupid.

It doesn't have to stand in opposition to religion, but it can't be reasonably dismissed and taking this stance on it will only cause disillusionment when this generation grows up.

YES! We ended up picking a church that is 12 miles frm our house because of the children's program that they had and so seeing this going on at this other church makes me SOOO  thankful that we chose the church that we did.

Damn, BB. The world is just throwing all sorts of crap at you right now. I know you'll come out on top! So sorry that poor H is constipated right now. I've found that peaches work for Ollie and if its that bad then a little stool softener goes a long way. Our pedi recommended a tsp of miralax mixed in a bottle or some food. I know they have baby versions too. It worked for Ollie when he was hurting and couldn't sleep. I know all too well how awful that is. I hope your day goes much better and that you get wonderfully long naps!

    I am the first person to champion sleep training, but I'm totally slacking with DS. It's just easier to give him a bottle at 2 am, and not risk him waking up DD.I know that's lazy and not fair to him, he needs to break this habit, but I'm struggling to stick with it.And by struggling I mean I'm not sticking with it at all.nbsp;

I've been horribly inconsistent with sleep training DS, too. I don't really think he would wake up his sister as she sleeps like the dead. So I really don't have a great excuse.

In fact, I complain every day that I'm exhausted, then every night I go in to feed and rock him when he cries. I'm a hypocrite.

  • If the freaking Catholic Church can endorse evolution (albeit an "intelligent design" version of it) then I am absolutely dumbfounded that so many other Christian sects are being so deliberately head-in-the-sand about it. This, guys, this is why people think you're stupid. There are some battles you don't need to fight, k?

(I'm not calling anyone here stupid. I was "talking" to people who embrace willful ignorance and act like it's a virtue.)

I am so glad we have a dog too and he's not picky. He loves veggies, meat, umm basically anything. We were at my grandmas cabin last weekend and I was so lazy and bummed that I had to pick up Brooke's food of the floor.

I got up when DH got home last night for whatever reason. That was at 12 am. I stayed up and talked to him and hungout like we did before baby until 2 while he drank too much. He called in today. I should be upset that he is using one of his precious vacation days for a hangover, but really, I am thankful that I will be able to take an uninterrupted nap this afternoon.

Baker is right. They told us in the hospital that these super bugs like MRSA are running rampant right now because we have anti bacterialized everything and done ourselves a major disservice. We being humans, not my family specifically. We are actually all about a little dirt, dog slobber and the like. Honestly, given that, I'm super annoyed it happened to us. Build those immune systems.

This bugs me. DH is Christian and also one of the top Evolutionary biologists in the world. I believe in God and am Christian and I think God created Evolution in order to protect us, we wouldn't be able to live on an earth without it. • My kids have eaten many a things both edible and non edible. Yesterday, Cam found a pea on the floor that must have avoided the broom the night before. I let her put it in her mouth purely of my own curiosity to see if she would eat it or not. She did eat it, for the record.

Cali asked for breakfast in bed. I'm letting her eat dry cereal in my bed right now and watch Magic School Bus because Cam is down for her 2 hr morning nap and I can sit by myself and watch what I want downstairs.

That's funny! my HDBD pic this week was DD licking our sliding glass door... and yesterday while I was making dinner she was being a little too quiet and I looked to find she had knocked over her box of cheerios and was eating them off the floor!

My confession: I ran out of body wash at the beginning of the week. I keep forgetting (or being too lazy) to pick some up so I've been using DD's baby wash in the shower all week.

  • We went to the beach earlier this week. Js first time. I forgot his swim suit, rashguard, hat, towels, and my clothes for on the way home. I had the only kid with just a swim diaper on, and kind of felt like trash.

While at the beach, J was eating sand by the fist full. The first time I said nothing because I figured he'd taste it, and stop. He liked it.

I'm pissed off. SOs mom and 2 sisters will be in today through Monday from other states. They kept being indecisive about what dates they'd be here so I never got to request this weekend off. Now they're all planning super fun stuff, and I'll be working my azz off. I told SO he better not go get drunk or anything because he's still getting up with J. Jealous, grumpy gf over here.
