Different Size Twins - 8 weeks 4 days - Help!

I am freaking out. This is my first pregnancy and we found out we were having fraternal twins today, I am so excited! But then the doctor said one twin is measuring perfectly at 2 cm, and the other is only at 1.38 cm. The stronger twin's heartbeat is at 176 bpm, and the smaller one is at 167 bpm. The doctor warned me that I may lose the little one and I am really upset! He also mentioned that it may be just that one egg was fertilized days before the other, but the former sceanrio is more common. Has anyone ever heard of this and the babies turned out fine? :(

Thank you so muhc for your kind words. Mine are measuring one week apart. So I just hope the other will be okay. :(

  • I don't have a whole lot of experience in this but mine measure at least 1-2 days different each sono (we've had 4). A lot depends on the angle of the sono and the baby. I think a couple of days is normal, not sure about more than that. Positive note they both have a heart beat. Congrats on the twins and good luck!

Don't apologize, no problem! I just hope one is a tiny guy for now and will catch up.
  • Lurking here, I know they can measure differently. I would go to the multiples board and ask them. Good luck!!
