Summer is terrifying!!!

My poor DH had a horrible weekend at work!!! He's a fireman and had an 18 month old fall out a second story window but thankfully she was fine with just a few bumps and bruises. Sadly an hour after that call came another for a missing ten year old at a local pond. DH was in the rescue boat and said the worst part was listening to the parents sobbing on the beach. He said all he could think of was how I would react. An hour and forty five minutes later they pulled the boy from the water. DH did CPR for a half hour. I don't know how to help him through this. He's taking it so hard. LO takes swim class and he's terrified of her being in the water but more so of her not learning to swim. My heart is breaking for him. Thanks for letting me get this out. I cry after talking to him since I'm trying to be strong and support him.

    Oh my gosh that is so sad. I am not really sure what to say but I guess just let him try and process it and remind him he can speak his thoughts to you. Just the thought is upsetting so I can only imagine how everyone there feels.

    oh my word! I am so sorry. He is such a special man for doing the job he does. I could never handle that. I am glad you are doing swim lessons. DD starts this week. I worry ever day about something happening to DD. Again, I am truly sorry he has to deal with this.

    Thanks ladies. I appreciate the kind words. It helps to hear this and remember it when he is so quick to get upset about nothing right now. I know he's dealing with so much emotionally after this and needs time to work through it.

    My uncle is an EMT/Firefighter ... he says he would never be able to do his job without his therapist. Maybe an option for your hubby? So sorry he's going through this!
