Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Away for the first time...

We are going on a 4-night trip, which is the first time we will be away from our LO since he arrived 8.5 months ago.  He is staying with my in-laws, but has only been around them twice as they live 12 hours away.  They are coming here, which is helpful, so Baby Boy can remain in his own environment.  But, to him, they are strangers.

I am writing out his schedule, helpful hints, specific things he likes, etc. for them while they are here, and I've asked his favorite friends of ours to stop by and say hello just so he has a friendly, familiar face while we're away.   :)

I know my MIL has experience will kids, and I'm not concerned about that.  It's the fact we've never been away from him this far/long before and he's starting to show signs of seperation anxiety in different scenarios.  I know the break will be good for all of us.

Any tips, suggestions for us?  THANKS!

  • It'll be hard the first night most likely for him, just to adjust to new people, but it's good he gets to be at home still. That will help a lot. Spend a day writing out when he eats, when he naps, etc so you have an idea of exactly how they should try and keep his days.

It'll be harder on you and your SO more than anything, I just spent 3 days without my LO's, and I was a wreck. Know that your LO will be fine, and enjoy your trip! GL to all of you!

  • LO will be fine! Honestly, you might want to start taking some more time for yourselves.
