September 2013 Moms

I asked on the name board...but wondering what you ladies think?!?

Just wondering what your opinions are on having first name and last name starting with the same letter. My husband and I really like a name but it starts with the same letter as our last name, and I can't decide if it sounds cheesy. To make it more interesting, last night my husband threw out a middle name suggestion that is also the same letter. The middle name is after his mom (which I love the idea of), but all three names with the same initial...does it matter or no??

Logan Laine LeBlanc

our other considerations for first names are Oliver and Gavin.

Re: I asked on the name board...but wondering what you ladies think?!?

  • I think the same initials are fine as long as it doesn't spell something Like AA etc. Now LLL is the Le Leche League, but I don't think it is well known enough to be an issue.

I like Logan LeBlanc I think it sounds nice together (I could be biased as we are thinking of using the name Logan too Wink)

I didn't know Laine could be for a boy so I am not sure about that, I like Logan Oliver Leblanc, but that spells out LOL, so I don't know how you would feel about that?

  • I don't think it matters. For 22 years prior to getting married I was Stephanie Semple.

I don't even know what the Le Leche League is, but thanks for letting me know!

Logan is a pretty cute name!!

His mom's name was Elaine and everyone called her Lainey, so we thought maybe we could do Laine (pronounced Lane).

haha I definitely wouldn't want his initials to be LOL  :)

  • I don't think it matters if you really love it. I do think Oliver Laine LeBlanc is nicer but Oliver was on my short list for boy names before we found out we were having a girl so I might be biased Lol

  • I actually really like having the same first initial. Our last name starts with and H and for a while we were considering the name Hudson. For a girl we liked Hailey or Hannah.

If you like it, go for it! I think the name flows nicely.

  • I think that name actually flows really nice and I wouldn't think twice about the same letters, I grew up with my initials being BBB, I've never had a problem with it and no ones ever really commented on the fact either, I say Go for it !
  • Logan LeBlanc sounds like a celebrity name. I like it. I don't think the triple letters are a problem unless they are all the letter K.

  • It's a good name. Go for it.

I think sometimes it's cheesy, sometimes it makes it stronger. Yours works.

  • Our daughters first and last initials are the same.

I like your choice for a name.

  • Logan LeBlanc sounds nice, it flows quite nicely! Not quite sure about the middle name as well...But if it really means that much to you, then just do it!!
  • I like Logan Leblanc and I don't think it matters so much!

  • I think it depends on the name and initials. My BFF was MMM for years and I never thought it was weird. My last name however starts with a P, so we have vetoed all P first names because PP seems like breeding grounds for teasing kids.

  • If you and YH like it, I don't think it matters.

Our last name starts with a K, and I don't like so many hard sounds, so none of the names we are considering start with a /k/ sound.  It's just personal preference though.

  • Our boy is going to have the same initials for his first and last name. We thought about giving him my husband's first name as a middle name, but that would make all three initials the same. Thus, he's getting a different family name for his middle name. Right now we are debating between JPJ and JEJ though we are leaning to the first choice. We thought JJJ was to much, but that's our opinion. Pick a name that you love, and it will work out. :)

    Mommy to N (3), J (2), and C (10 months). LO4 is due in mid-September.
  • I don't think it's a big deal at all! I grew up with initials AKA didn't have a problem with AA initials either. If we have a boy his initials will be S?S and I think we'll stear clear of a middle name that starts with S just because it would be kind of hard to say...but if you like triple initials go for it!

  • I don't think it matters at all and actually flows really nicely together. I also like the name Laine for a boy. It's pretty gender neutral so I would say go for it.

Hehe, my maiden initials were PP. I think it got mentioned a handful of times growing up, and ALWAYS by adults, not kids. I survived.:
  • I had the same first and last initial until marriage, and I always liked it.  I had a teacher who used to call me "C Squared."  If it flows and if you like it, then go for it!
