Pregnant after IF

Question about lifting limits?

My RE put me on a 10-15 pound lift restriction and I called today to see how long that was to last now that I actually am pregnant.  The nurse called me back and said the rest of my pregnancy.  Does this sound consistent with what anyone's RE told them?  My job requires me to lift up to 40 pounds (I work at a day care, although I'm an assistant director so not always in the classroom) and I'm a little freaked out about telling them that.

Me (37) DH (39); PCOS changed to Unexplained, changed to DOR in 2012 (finally a correct diagnosis!);

Re: Question about lifting limits?

  • That sounds consistent to me. I've had some bleeding and have been restricted to things 1 pound or less! It tough.

  • I was told 15 pound limit. I would tell your boss and ask them to put you on restricted job duties. I'm sure your doctor can write a note if they required one, but that is a pretty standard limitation for all pregnancies.

    My OB didn't give me any lifting restrictions since I graduated from the RE at 11 weeks. I was just told not to lift things that are too heavy for me, but I haven't had any pregnancy scares like random bleeding. I don't think it's common to have lifting restrictions after graduation. If you already had a little one, I can't imagine being told not to lift your child because you're pregnant.

  • After my fresh cycle, I had lifting limits of 20 pounds but only until my ovaries calmed down... Maybe until 8 weeks. With my FET, I had no lifting limits which is good bc I have a 27 pound toddler who requires being picked up often.

  • After I graduated from the RE I didn't have any lifting restrictions. I teach a weight lifting class and we have pregnant women all the time! My OB just restricted me to no jumping or high impact.

  • I'm on a 25lb lifting restriction.  Had to go on light duty at work because I do so much lifting.  Employee health tried to make me go on short term disability bc my job description requires me to lift 50lbs.  Luckily my supervisor was able to talk them into just putting me on light duty.
