C-sections

Makeup with c section?

I am having a scheduled c section June 5th and every one keeps asking me if I am going to get all done up with makeup since its planned? I didn't even think about this! It sounds nice but kinda odd. What are u other moms doing or did??

Re: Makeup with c section?

  • You can not wear makeup into a scheduled csection. They even say no lotion, hairspray, perfume, etc.

  • My ob said it was fine when I asked her! I was shocked by this as well!
  • I never even thought about makeup with either one of mine. I was too nervous to think about anything else besides the surgery. I would assume that the makeup will make you feel more beautiful but after the surgery, you're going to be so out of it the makeup will be the last thing on your mind. I was too sleepy to even take a picture let alone see the baby fully.

  • My c/s was planned. I had to be at the hospital at 6:30am. I guarantee I wasn't going to get up early and put on makeup, even if it had been allowed.

  • No makeup, and if I recall correctly I was to not have nail polish on either.
"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
  • I had makeup done for both of my c/s (and yes, for my first c/s I did get up early to get fixed up), and even had my nails done (acrylics and all) the day before this last c/s.  I never had any restrictions on anything.  If you fix your makeup, make sure to go very natural, with my twins I went a little bolder and looked like a freak after because I turned white as a ghost.

  • I wore a full face of makeup when I had my 3rd c-section (I went into labor with the first 2 so I wan't in the mood).  The only thing they asked me to do was take my nose ring out.  Which is obvious, I had just forgotten.  But no one said anything about my make up, and they never told me not to.

I preferred having make up on, I felt more comfortable.  But that's probably a personal preference thing.

  • I was never given any restrictions with mine either. I wasn't too worried about it but my mother actually came over the night before & did my nails (full set of gels) & in the early morning did my hair. I did my own make up as I don't like other people's hands by my face. It was kind of nice bonding experience. I was almost born on the side of the freeway because my mother wouldn't leave for the hospital until her hair & make up were done. I liked it because it made the morning just that much more special. After all the trauma that was my first birth & the years since it was a nice build up to a very healing birth experience.

  • I wore light makeup.  A little blush, eyeliner and mascara.  Didn't matter though.  I broke out in a rash all over my face from the pain meds.  Because of that, I only have 2 or 3 pics of me with DS.

  • I wore light makeup for my planned c section. Had to take off my jewelry and remove my contacts though. I was totally going to leave them in but DH ratted me out lol.

I went into my scheduled c/s with light eye make-up on.  Nobody said anything - they just told me no jewelry and this included taking out the metal clips I had holding my hair back.

  • My hospital allowed a bit of makeup "for pictures." : I put on foundation and a bit of eye shadow.
