Diaper Service vs. Purchasing

Hello, I am new here. I am very newly pregnant, and am quite interested in CD. Are there any views on which is easier/more effective between purchasing diapers vs getting a service? Sorry if this has been asked before, and I appreciate any advice.

I used a service to get my feet wet and to buy time to stock up on CD and it was the same price as buying 7th Gen disposables.

I agree with PP about buying your own. I might just do a service the whole time if I had more money than time or was grossed out by the laundromat and/or handwashing (I live in an apt with no hook-ups).

Are the diapers much different, besides cost?

We're purchasing, because one of the main reasons we are doing cloth is to save money, and after looking into it, we felt like paying for a diaper service kind of defeats the purpose.

I use a service and probably always will. It just works for our family.  It's $75/month. They drop off prefolds and a liner and provided the pail and deodorizer disk (monthly). We use mostly Blueberry covers. We use disposables at night and occasionally when we're out an about or traveling.
