Mango puree

Has anyone made pureed food from mangos? My grandmother gave me a bunch and I want to make good use of them. Any tips/tricks?

Steam them first, then puree. If it's stringy mix with apples or pears to make it easier for baby to eat.

I use frozen, defrost, and then puree and re freeze.

This is what I started doing.  The fresh mango is really stringy so I cut them up, freeze them, and then thaw and puree as needed.  It really cuts down the stringy texture.

I've never steamed. Just cut it up, then blend it really well. I haven't had any issues with it being stringy.

Same for me. DD loved them.

For those who froze them first, did you cut them in chunks before you froze them? If so, how small?

I just gave DD larger chunks and she gnawed them to death.

I will probably try this as well. She went to town on some watermelon yesterday!

  • pureeing mango is too much work!  As long as they are ripe, just cut it open, dice it up and feed it to your LO!  I've been doing this for my DS and he has no trouble mashing and swallowing diced mangoes!

  • I peel them, steam them and puree them with avocados.  Sounds weird, but the texture is great, and the taste is pretty nice.
