Abigail Jo is here *caution* just in case

Hi guys!! My newest daughter Abigail Jo was born May 24th via emergency c-section. I put caution as a precaution for those moms still pregnant and i dont want anyone to worry about there pregnancy.

Friday may 24th, my DH, DD#1 and I went to the hospital for a routine NST since i was 41 weeks that day. We expected to do the test, then head to gymnastics and then come back monday for a vbac but boy did things change.  The beginning of the test, DD's heart rate was fine until about 5 minutes in when it jumped up to about 190-200 which concerned the nurse. before walking out to call my doctor, she informed me to not be surprised if he wanted to have the baby today. I wasn't thinking it was an emergency situation, so i thought i still could try my vbac. We called my MIL to come get our DD and take her to gymnastics and she was on her way. The nurse came back shortly after with another nurse saying we were having the baby now via c-section. We gathered our belongings and walked to a room in labor and delivery. My doctor came in and informed me we had to get her out now because they don't know what was causing her heart rate to be so high. It then became a cluster of procedures, inserting my iv, catheter, questions. I started feeling faint so i was rushed into the OR where i began to feel better after throwing up. DD's heart rate then dropped to 80, they inserted my spinal tap and within minutes, I heard her cry. My poor DH wasn't able to come in when she was born but they brought him in afterwards to see DD and I since he was in such a panic. DD and DH went with the nurse to Nicu where they weighed her at a healthy weight of 9lbs 7oz. Doctor closed me up and had the conclusion that i had experienced a placenta abruption during the NST and if i hadn't been in the hospital for it, i might not have had a daughter and i could not have made it either. My doctor was called at 9:34 about my DD heart rate and she took her first breath at 10:02. I was so blessed to have all the nurses act so fast and calmly. Wow, this is the first time that i've actually gone through it all and really is absolutely amazing how lucky my DD and I are. We sure do have a guardian angel looking after us.

Although I didn't get the vbac i wanted nor will i ever try for one, but this recovery has been so much easier than my first where i labored for 28 hours first. My DD spent her entire stay at the hospital in the nicu for fluid in her lungs and a possible heart mumor, but we are now home and she is as healthy as any other newborn and is breastfeeding wonderfully. My doctor told the nurses when he was closes up my incision that my DD was made to do great things and i know he's right.

Thanks for reading my story. It's emotional for me to go through this all as i had to be strong so my dh didn't fall apart but i am just so happy to have my 2 daughters and my husband. Picture soon to come

  • This sounds like what happened to us as well. It's so scary, I was put under cause I was told there is just not enough time... The nurses called her the miracle baby, I guess she is the record breaking c section delivery in the birthing centre.

Congrats on your baby! I am glad you are both ok, and doing well. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

  • Congratulations!  Thank goodness everything turned out in the end.  Also, don't worry to much about the fluid in the lungs--that's totally normal after a C-section, especially one with no labor, because the labor and passage through the vagina are what push the fluid out of the lungs.

Hope your recovery is easy and that your family continues to be blessed!

  • Congrats, I am glad everything is ok.
  • Thank you everyone! it was quite a scary ride so i feel so relieved that everything is okay and were home and happy :)

The hardest part about her being in nicu was that i couldnt hold her or really see her cause we were both trying to recover. i just wanted to be her mama and hold and protect her so it was tough to let others do the job. and luckily the recovery for a rcs has been much easier than my first, thankfully
