Tuesday night I was sent to LD for mild preeclampsia. My OB gave me cytotex to ripen my cervix, i was only 1 cm and left me to labor on my own for the night. I had contractions about every 5 minutes all night.
She checked me in the morning and I was only 2.5 3 cm. When she checked me she said my water bag was bulging and asked if I'd rather break that and see if it kicked things up before we tried pitocin. I said yes. She broke my water around 7 am. I labored on my own and she checked me around 11, only a solid 3 cm. We started pitocin shortly after that. I got an epidural around 1 and pretty instantly went up to 4 and 5 quickly after. I napped on and off as I could. Around 4 PM I was having a ton of pain from contractions. We figured he was sunny side up and the back of his head was pushing on my tailbone/butt area. Around 6 the pain and pressure was intense and I told the nurse I needed to push. She checked me and said I was only 7.5. I got a second dose of the Epi around 6:30 to hopefully calm some of the pain and urge to push.
7 PM rolls around and I told her I can't do it anymore. I feel like I have to push. She checked me again and I still had a bit of lip of cervix. She goes to get my OB and Finds her tied up doing someone else's post delivery repair. She comes back and tells me to hold on and fight the urge so I don't rip my cervix by stretching too fast. I couldn't do it anymore and was pushing involuntarily. She told my OB at 7:24 that I was involuntarily pushing. OB came in around 7:30 and was able to push the bit of cervix so it stretched and gave me the go ahead to push with contractions. At 7:53 Colton James emerged into the world. He wasn't sunny side up after all but came out with an arm by his face so she thinks it was up there the whole time and I was getting elbowed.
I have a first degree tear but other than that we came out healthy! He was 7lbs 15oz but my OB says 8 even if you count the cord. Lol. He was 19 1/4 long and has strawberry blonde, which caught us way off guard. I'm a ginger but DH has black hair so we were expecting dark hair. He was 38W1D, apparently they had June 11 as my due date, so he was great size for two weeks early. So far we're recovering well, still trying to get the hang of breast feeding but it will come.
Thanks for all the well wishes and I can't wait to see the rest of the june babies come into the world!
Eta hopefully this works and isn't huge, I'm on my phone.

Such great news! Thanks for sharing your story! Also, my son's hand was against his face and I ended up needing a c-section - it's awesome to know that you can have a vaginal birth with baby in that position (eases some of my fears for this labor)!
:-)
We were literally going down lists as I was in labor. I had mentioned Colton but DH didn't act super impressed. As soon as they laid him on my belly DH said he was Colton. :
