My kids can forget going to college...

My kids can forget going to college...

'cause their college fund is going to fix the damn dishwasher again!  Oliver keeps knocking the plastic spinning part down onto the heating element when he unloads and Audrey keeps pressing heat dry when she starts it up.  This melts the spinning part making it useless. Tongue Tied

I know it is only 40 dollars to fix but they keep doing it and then I have no dishwasher for 5 days.

I voted for buying a new dishwasher with a metal spinner.  Shall we see if I win this battle?

Oliver also broke the shelf in our upright freezer last week.  I buy big bags of dog food and keep it in the freezer so it doesn't go stale.  Oliver just tossed the bag onto the shelf and it busted under the force.

They break everything, even stuff you didn't think could break!

  • C climbed onto the door of ours and now it doesn't open all the way. I wish we could afford a new one. I vote new one if you have the funds, $40 a pop adds up over time.

Maybe you should have the kids hand wash and dry the dishes a couple time and they will appreciate the washer more and be more careful. OR they will make a huge mess doing that. Sometimes there's no winning!Stick out tongue

  • I've decided that we won't be buying a anything nice for the house until DS (and any additional children) is quite a bit older. He has already managed to put dings and scrapes on the bottom half of pretty much all of our wooden furniture in the house. I'm sure he will break or damage everything else that we own within the next few years too.  It sucks because we've replaced pretty much all of our appliances and furniture within the past five years. If I knew then how destructive kids are I would have waited.

  • Do they get allowance? I'd keep half from each kid every week until they've paid you back and then keep half from Oliver until he pay's off the shelf.

Man you are a tough mom.  My kids would be bawling if I did this.

Hey! They'd still be getting part of it! I thought that was fair lol. I'm sure after the first week they'll be checking the dishwasher before pushing buttons.

    At least!

  • College is overrated.....
We just spent 5000 to install laminate floors in our shoebox and P has managed to scratch them up. Dh has a conniption with every new scratch.
