Another food question

Okay.. Some days I feel like eating up the kitchen and some days I barely feel like eating...like tonight..

Are there any of you who don't really have an appetite sometimes? And is there something you do for it? Like drink eeeeeeeeeven more fluids so you don't get the sick feeling from not having food on your tummy?

Re: Another food question

  • Someone recommended Ensure to me.  It worked wonders.  It gives you calories, protein, and vitamins.  I had lost 10 pounds, but once I started drinking Ensure in addition to whatever food I could hold down, the loss stopped.  Here in the last week, I've actually put a pound or two back on.

     Good luck!

Cool! Thanks! I would drink these when my dad was sick and liked them so hopefully I still like them!

It seems like the appetite really comes and goes. Some days it feels like I eat constantly and others I am just not very hungry and have small snacks all day.

It's been many weeks since I've had to worry about keeping food down or feeling so sick that I didn't want to at all (17 weeks now). When I was having MS, I didn't drink Ensure but had Carnation instant breakfast shakes. Same idea. Get something in your stomach and keep your blood sugar from crashing.

  • I would just suggest eating a really small meal or a sandwich. If you're not hungry you're not hungry.

Eat fruit as then you're still getting your nutrients but remember to stay hydrated even when your full.
  • Along the same lines as Ensure, I've been drinking chocolate milk during the times when I can't stomach much but need to eat. Really helps.
