Video monitor, where have you been all of DD's life?!

Mobile: Video monitor, where have you been all of DD's life?!

We didn't ask for a video monitor or shell out the money for one because I didn't think it would be worth it. Well, since DD is seeming increasingly to regard a small afghan as a lovey, I wanted to be able to see her to assuage my fears that she would suffocate herself with it and borrowed DH's cousins video monitor. AND IT IS AWESOME. I feel like I'm totally spying on DD's privacy - babies have privacy, right?! - but whatever. I love it. Just being able to look at her contented asleep little self makes me feel so much better.

Also, secret tummy sleeping. WTH? I did not lay her down like that.

  • I'm switching back and forth watching Jackson now. We got the ibaby monitor and we can pull it up on our phones and iPads. And move the camera if he moves. I love it. I keep it on just incase I wake up I can see him instantly! Jackson is a blankie baby and I completely get where your coming from.

I'm glad you love it. She has her privacy but I'm sure inside she loves knowing your still watching over her now!

  • Yep. I pooh poohed video monitors until we tried a hand me down from a friend...and it was love at first night. Seeing him sleep in the early days, and knowing now when he's up or down, or fussing while asleep or genuinely awake, is very helpful.  We have the Motorola and will add a second camera when this LO arrives and transitions to his/her room.

  • I used one on my 3-year-old from infancy until like two nights ago. DD is in our bedroom due to lack of bedrooms in our house so we never needed it for her until we started sleep training.  Now I want to get a new camera for DS but he does need his privacy.  It is hard to let go!

  • When DD was about 3 months old and we started doing a few nights of crib sleep, I decided, "eh, might as well" and sucked it up and bought a video monitor.  It was the single best purchase of any baby-related gear I have made.

  • They are totally awesome... H is a noisey sleeper it would really suck to get up and go in her room every time she made a noise... we will be home soon and i cant wait to use ours!

  • This and my Dr. Brown's formula pitcher/formula dispenser are some the very best things I own!  One of my friends gave us her older video monitor and I liked it but had my eye on the one I really wanted...it was just too expensive.  DH surprised me got it for me for mother's day and I LOVE IT, gives me great comfort since DS is a stomach sleeper and loves his blankie!!

DH and I have been talking about moving B into his nursery at night. He is still sleeping in his bouncer right next to our bed due to reflux issues, but I am thinking that within the next month or so, I want to transition him to his PNP in his room. I told DH that there is no way in heck this will happen without a video monitor!

Since the baby video monitors are so bleeping expensive, we're just going to get a security camera that links to my smartphone and computer via a personal, secure website. Only $80 as compared to $200+ for a good quality video monitor.

Glad the monitor is working for you! Is the sleep training getting any better/ easier?

I want one!  But after getting both a Snuza, and then an AngelCare monitor (when he'd roll that Snuza off of him), I think DH might stop talking to me for a while, if I went and bought *another* monitoring device for our son ~ but I've been considering it, because DS is both a tummy and blankie sleeper, too! :S
