i am so disgusted by the "cleanliness factor" being a reason for circumcising. clearly you all have done ZERO research. and "leaving it up to the father" ??? really? Shouldnt you make an informed decision? my husband is circ'd, but we both did research and realized it was a completely unnecessary practice so thankfully i had a husband that actually looked into this and didnt' just look down and say "duh he should be like me"
lol was wondering where u were
so mad i am getting in on this late lol
don't worry it will come up again, and again, and again

Me, deciding why I would do it is based on research I've done. You saying do research seems like your way of saying everyone just do it the way I am or you're an idiot.. However give it another week or two and someone else will post this as a topic when your active on the board and you can go to town on it when it's relevant again..
you did do 'research' but still think it's 'not clean' to be uncircumcised? lol oh man
Yea, the "cleanliness factor" is just ridiculous. My son is uncut and definitely has a clean penis. It's NBD to keep him clean.
As far as our decision to not have him circ'd, we didn't feel it was fair to our son to make the decision to have a part of his anatomy removed just for a very slightly reduced rate of UTIs and very slightly reduced chance of STIs if he has unprotected sex.
I don't know if we're having a boy or girl, yet, so I preface my answer with that and with this: whatever we decide is a personal thing and I have no judgment about what anyone else decides for their sons. I don't have a strong opinion one way or another, just things I've heard or read that have given me some mild leanings, but DH very strongly feels that if we have a son, he should be circumcised. Part of his reasoning is an ease of cleanliness factor, but also he thinks sons should match their dads. So we will most likely circumcise if we have a son.

I HATE posting on these but I have to get this out because it annoys the isht out of me. The "cleanliness" factor is freaking make believe! Your son isn't born knowing how to brush his teeth or wash in his butt crack but you're a mother and you teach your son how to wash and clean himself, if you are too lazy to show your son how to pull foreskin back in the bath or shower, then yeah, there may be a "cleanliness" issue. In the end it's purely aesthetic. More and more Americans are choosing not to circumsize their sons so the locker room argument is weak. I think it's personal preference and I'd have the Dad decide if you aren't comfortable with choosing.
We are doing it. DH felt strongly about it and I also had personal reasons for wanting it done. I agree even though it's not as much a religious thing anymore it is a personal choice.
This. There was no question about in our house. I dated a guy who wasn't cut, and frankly it was a huge turn off for me. And I think I've only met one woman who didn't mind. :: I brought up the turn off thing because there is ultimately going to be a few women who say it can decrease sexual pleasure and they are thinking about their sons future sex life...well, so am I ::Regardless of what anyone says, for me I feel like it is cleaner, and this is something my boyfriend wholeheartedly agrees with. I stand by my choice.
This.. I can't say that the male sexual experience is better or worse, and honestly it's more of a preference to them since they won't know the other way around either, but I've also dated a guy before who was not cut and my personal sexual preference is a circumcised man.. dun dun dunnn
..you're welcome for that little tidbit of information..
Women like you are the reason my son WOULD NOT be cut. He needs to be around women with depth.

I watched one of these in nursing school & I'd say hell no. I think they just used a little topical numbing medicine & nothing else for pain. I watched that poor little baby scream his head off until he was purple. When on occasion a grown man, or child who is old enough to speak is circumcised, they do it under anesthesia. If they did it without anything, I'm quite sure a grown man would *** slap the doctor!
I would personally wait until my child is older & then if he wants to do it, let him. My husband is uncircumcised, as is my step-son. Step-son is 8 and has never had any infections or problems, but he was taught at an early age how to clean himself appropriately.
