i need to get some new utensils for my kids- they're good w/ our regular spoons and even the dessert/salad forks but all we have that is kid sized is either chewed up in the rubber handle by my son or the old plastic/rubber kind...I want something a little bigger/more grown up and stainless steel at least on the ends...any recs, esp available on amazon as I am about to place a big order (I looked a bit on there & was kind of surprised at the prices b/c I wanted to buy like 6 sets since I have 2 almost 4 yr olds ) but maybe I just have no idea how much this stuff costs since I haven't bought it in so long.
Thanks! we have some of those forks (DS chews the handles which is really annoying)... I can't believe it is $12.50 a set though... am I really going to have to spend $75+ for 6 sets of kid spoons & forks? argh. LOL.
Those sets are waaaay cheaper at Target - maybe $5/set? We got a set of 3 forks for $4. They are Gerber Nuk brand, but the handles are slightly different.

thanks! I actually have the ikea bowls plates and cups and love them but wasn't sure how the flatware was, is it durable? You mention 4&5 yr olds, is it big enough for them?

Yes, the flatware is great and durable. They are a bit thicker than the plates/bowls and look new months later. The forks stab good. The girls use the knives to cut things like sandwiches/chicken. The spoons could be deeper but they work fine for cereal/applesauce. I think the size is perfect for them(my one dd is almost 6).
Our DD is 4 and had been using our stuff for a while. We give her the salad fork. We cut food for her. I'm not sure why you don't want to just have them eat with regular stuff.

they do but we also have other smaller kids over regularly to eat and like to have some things that are not chewed on to offer them, and DS is still not super skilled w/ utensils, he's a bit slow on that so having a smaller fork for him is helpful.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they are selling them for that. Babies R Us has the set for $5.99 and I think target sells it for the same as well.
I bought ours at World Market. They are regular stainless steel silverware with fork prongs that actually can be used They're smaller and lighter than typical silverware. I bought 9 sets (three kids x 3 meals). If you sign up for their website, they send you coupons.
Re: kids' cutlery on amazon?
This is the stainless that we have.

I usually see fork/spoon sets at the dollar bins at Target.
This set is not stainless steel but I'm going to throw it out there anyway. I really like it for my 4&5 yr old. https://www.amazon.com/Ikea-Plastic-Flatware-Tumbler-Colorful/dp/B009PP5LGY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1369536993&sr=8-3&keywords=ikea+cutlery+set

Ahhhh....The ones on Amazon are being sold through a 3rd party, that's why. Target sells them in store but not online.

This is their plastic wear. I actually have this in my bag in a baggie and use it for the kids when we go out to eat.
