if your LO watches tv...

What is the most random word your LO has picked up from TV?

DS knows "dubloons" (pronounced "bwoons") thanks to Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I think that's pretty hilarious considering how hard I worked to teach him some normal/everyday words.

edit - spelling fail

She says the word 'Disney' and even calls it out when she sees it on books/movie covers/etc.

  • "Yo ho ho" from Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

She mimics all the noises Pascual makes from Tangled.

She now does the roll call on MMCH.
  • I keep trying to get DS to interact with the shows (Disney Jr), but he never does. (ie, say "yo ho ho" at the right time) Just curious, Crash and Shan - did you encourage them to do the MMCH roll call or did they just start on their own? DS thinks it's hilarious when I sing along to the song or answer the questions or whatever, but he doesn't do it himself.

On her own. But she does have the MMCH toys and she doesn't really watch Jake, it's the songs that get her attention.
  • He randomly says, "meeska mooska Mickey Mouse! Come say it with me!"

It's usually screamed in the grocery store or target. Ha

  • My poor kid only ever watches Clifford, Franklin, the news and country music videos.   She does regularly request that I change a song on the radio if she doesn't like it....

This made me lol - already trying to control the music in the car, and not even 2!

  • Also, total lol at kimbus and rachey - both of those sound hilarious.

Shan, I was mostly curious because DS will yell out character names if he sees them at the store, but doesn't say them with the tv. Actually, I think he only knows Mickey, Minnie, and Donald. We don't watch MMCH as much, though.

  • DD sings the "Ah ah ah ah" part of the My Little Pony them song to let me know she wants to watch it. Gee, thanks Netflix and DH for turning her into a couch potato.

  • The only actual word she says is Blue, when she wants to watch Blues Clues.  When she wants to watch Dora, she does this crazy monkey impression, complete with sounds and dancing.  It's so cute!

ladybug, she does it all on her own. The first time she did it, DH & I just stared at each other like, holy sh!t, she's actually learning and remembering things.

This doesn't top the embarrassment every time I take her to Target though. As soon as I get her out of the car she starts yelling, "Red cart, red cart, red cart." Then she cheers as we walk through the doors. When we check out she repeats the word Target and thank you as the cashier bags my stuff. Then, finally, as we walk through the doors to leave, she always yells, "Bye Target!" a few times.

And it's a little more tame at the grocery store except when I pull her out of the car, she immediately starts yelling, "Locksters" until we get to the point in the store with the lobster tank. Then she usually woofs at them.

This made my day - I'm crying from laughing so hard at the mental picture of all of this!

My Little Pony is on Netflix? I might have to check this out since DH just resubscribed. (Woohoo, Arrested Development!)

I am also fighting the couch potato battle, but DS is currently winning since I'm too exhausted to resist his pleas of "Watch Jake! Watch Cars!"

That sounds hilarious - I love it when kids do monkey impressions!

  • Oh, some of these are funny!

DD knows all the MMCH characters by name. She doesn't say them during roll call but she has mickey/minnie plates with the characters and will point to them and say their names on there. She also has a book with Toodles, so she will say Toodles all the time, "TOOOOO!!!! TOOOOO!!!!"

Has anyone's kid watched the MMCH where they're in wonderland (like Alice in Wonderland)? DD refers to it as the clock ("CLAAAHHH!") episode and now it's the only one she wants to watch. She will point at the TV and say CLAAAHH, CLAAHHH! over and over. And then giggle hysterically when she realizes she gets to watch it.

DD1 is 3.5 and still won't interact when we watch Dora. DD2, on the other hand, has been doing it for months.

  • DD2 isn't as advanced in terms of speech as some of the other Aug LO's, so she hasn't picked up any sayings from shows yet. However, she goes NUTS whenever she sees "Ada" (Dora). She is also madly in love with "Innie" (Pooh). Oh and she loves to dance along with Dora during the "We did it" song.
